I have upgraded my lighting to LEDs and they are much brighter. The issue I have is my turn signals work correctly when the key is on with the motor not running, but with the motor running the signals will blink twice hesitate for 6 or 7 seconds then blink twice again. It seems odd, but I suspect I'm not the first to experience this issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's likely a resistance issue. LEDs added to an older bike typically require an inline resistor to make them blink properly. Alternately, I believe there are flasher relays that incorporate the extra resistance. Google "LED turn signals flash too fast" online and you'll see what I mean.

This and also, the flasher relay on the GT is inside the CDI so it may get "interference" when the engine's running. You either add resistors (if not already present) to the turn signals, so as to compensate for the needed load the flasher needs to work properly or you rewire an external LED flasher relay, cancelling the one inside the CDI...

Resisters in line to turn signals fixed it. I only put them into the front signals as they were more protected there.

Thanks all.
