Howdy all!
I recently purchased the Freecom 4+ dual pack so I can chat with my kiddos while we ride. Coms are a game changer when riding with someone. Very cool.
I'm not much of a music guy while riding, but when I'm on long rides, I like to listen to audiobooks and podcasts. The audio is honestly too quiet for both of these while going over 50 mph. I switched to music to see if it was the headphones or the audio-speech type deals. The music was much louder—noticeably.
Anyone have any ideas why voice apps come in so much more quiet than music? How do I get these to work better for audiobooks? Thoughts?

I'm using a Freecom 1+, but I have the same issue with GPS directions vs music. My workaround is to start music, then start the GPS app. That...doesn't work for podcasts or audiobooks, unfortunately.
Did you download the Cardo app? I just noticed there are some volume settings in that, though I haven't played around with them enough to figure out how to use them to any effectiveness.
I'd be interested in any solutions as well.

I'm a new Freecom 4+ user myself and have noticed this too. Not sure what the answer is but from what I understand this is the kind of thing that drives audio engineers crazy. Voice and music levels are very different and not standardized in the first place. Some voice audio apps, Google Maps being one of them, have separate volume settings buried in their preferences. That way if you have to crank up the Cardo volume to hear the podcast, you can set the navigation voice intensity so you won't get blasted out of your seat by the Google voice telling you to turn left.
Other things that bug me:
* yes, nearly useless above 50mph. I don't know if that is a helmet issue, a windscreen issue, or a Cardo issue, but NPR news is inaudible.
* there is no way to hang up a voice call by Siri! If you call somebody and get voicemail, you have to use your finger to terminate the call whether or not you leave a message. I swear, by the dander of Cheesus' whiskers, is that ever annoying.
