Hello all,
The problem im having normally happens when i stop or slow down to almost stop then the accelerator handle just looses power. although the engine keeps running but when i try to rev it starts to die but never completely.
Im unfortunately in saudi and parts for vespas here are like hens teeth, so im hoping someone can advise what part i need as ive been told by a bike mechanic its some sort of sensor although his english was poor. He did rule out the carburettor after checking that.
TIA

Removing the key and re-inserting it solves your problem for a while.
Does your scooter have a key with transponder? You happen to have a spare key?

Hi yes I have the master key and 2 copies. I did think it was a problem with the key/immobiliser at first ?

And you tested the other keys and it did not make any difference?

Seems to rule out anything wrong with the immobiliser.

Can you tell us a bit more on your Vespa?
How old is it, what is the mileage, what about prescribed service?

Hi it is year 2012 and has around 8000km on the clock. It has been unused for around 6 months before i bought it. I had to change the battery a couple of weeks ago. I am unsure regarding any previous services?
The mechanic advised it could be this sensor part in the picture 'star' on it
Appreciate your help

So after it wouldnt start i have tried with all 3 keys, including master key with no luck, so i suspect that rules out the immobiliser?
Im now trying to get it recovered which isnt easy either but i would still appreciate peoples thoughts on what the problem could be
TIA

It is a 2012 model with 8000km and it has been unused for 6 months. You have no information on previous services.

You best assume it did not have had any services.

It did run so there cannot be anything really badly wrong with it.

Check if you have a spark at the spark plug. If you have spark, and I expect you have, then probably there is something wrong in the fuel system. Clogged fuel filter or fuel lines or fuel injector, something like that.

You are in Saudi. I expect a little dusty over there. Did you clean the air filter? Simple thing to start with.

I don't know if it is an option, but if it is then bring it to a good mechanic who understands Vespa's and have it serviced its routine 5000km service.
