The fuel gauge on my ET4 reads full all the time . Is the fault with the gauge , the sender unit or maybe a wiring fault ? Any thoughts ?

it's most likely the sending unit. there are two versions, well technically three. one is a loose float, those are the earlier ones. the second is a tube with the float in it, these came later and they have two different electrical connections. one is a three prong in a triangle connector and the other later, later one is a rectangular connection.

on the version with the tube the float will occasionally get hung up or stuck. you can try jostling it around to free it, but usually a replacement fixes it.

if it's wiring, more than likely your short is in the headset/handle bar area.
