So I haven't used my Vespa PX125 2016 for a few days due to the winds as I live in a coastal town in the UK and this morning when I went to start her I could see that the petrol tank had emptied with the petrol all over the drive. She started straight away until the carburetor had emptied as I turned the petrol off. I was wondering if anyone has any idea why this happened because the petrol seemed fresh and the scooter had been standing unused for the last 4 days. Would the wind have blown the carburetor open? I'm just asking before I start stripping her down and just asking for an easy fix. Any information would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

You need to turn off the peacock when not using it for an extended time. The carb float and needle are not always enough to keep it from leaking. You should check the float needle to make sure it is not worn out and check the filter as well. Then pull the spark plug and kick it over to make sure the cylinder is not full of gas.

I did start it and let it run until the carburetor was empty. At the moment I suffer from anxiety and although I went to get petrol earlier I haven't had a look at it just in case it's a big job it'll have to wait until tomorrow when I'm in a better place of mind. Thanks for the reply and I will definitely be turning the petrol off when I'm not on it in the future. Definitely.

Good man. If you started it already, I'm sure it's fine.

Put fresh petrol in this morning and everything is fine. Just have to remember to turn off the petrol when I'm not on it. Very happy that it wasn't a big job I was thinking the worst possible scenarios. Off out for a ride now. Thanks for the replies with a big sigh of relief. 👍👍👍
