In the UK it went by the name Vintage Red, which differentiated it from Dragon Red

That's a super fine image and a typical Dutch scene. No-one would ever guess you live in Holland

Mopmop,
Great photos and I love the color of your Vespa. Black seat good choice. Send more photos if you can. Enjoy viewing your Netherlands. Actually, the rural stuff looks like Minnesota. Obviously, no windmills - or for that matter no structure in the State from 1720. Bob Copeland

In the middle of winter, after three weeks of almost non-stop rainfall, today was a beautiful day to ride. And to test the behaviour with the Givi V47 - passed with flying colours.
Beautiful, but windy. #horizontalkeychain

Mopmop,
You are out cruising the dream. I like that seat cover. You don't seem to have a travel bag strapped behind you. Does everything fit in the new back Givi? On extended rides, I have my waterproof travel bag bungeed on the seat behind me. I stand corrected, I can see a bag on the snow photo. Bob Copeland Minnesota |

Hi Bob,
Indeed, I do have a travel bag strapped behind me. The picture without it was a day trip from where I was staying the night. I feel the travel bag is not only necessary to put my clothes in (the Givi is filled up with camping equipment like the tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat and rain gear and the pet carrier houses all the tools and cooking gear), but the bag also gives me a lot of comfort: it's a perfect back rest on long riding days. And also indeed, I was out cruising the dream! It's already two months ago, but next year I'm hopefully making another 1 to 2 week solo trip. Maybe the Alps, maybe Scotland or somewhere else. And one day... just one day... I hope to put the Vespa in a crate and send it to the US. And ride it there. Now that would be a dream come true. |

Mopmop,
I would love to have you ride in the USA. Problem, just to much geography. I know Bill Dog blistered across it coast to coast at 75 miles per hour in four days covering close to 4000 miles. That is not the pace or backroads I enjoy. Heck, the State of Texas alone is the size of France. If you came, I would pick out one Region of the country to cover. But, each to their own. Personally, I think you are in Scooter Touring Heaven in Europe. You have it all in attainable distances. Mountains, Valleys, Oceans, with unbelievable scenic vistas and a bunch of super historical structures. Hey, lots of scenic spots in the USA - but you got it all. Keep those photos coming of your travels. I appreciate them. Bob Copeland

Bob,
I understand the USA is huuuuuge. At the same time, that's part of the attraction for me. I've always wanted to go coast to coast in the USA. But while taking the time to enjoy the scenery, meet the people and feel like really being there. Real life has gotten in the way until now, though. Which was a blessing as well, but now that the kids have a gotten lives of their own, the window of opportunity may slowly be opening up. We'll see what the future holds! Joeri

Mopmop,
I just revisited all your great photos. Just as much a treat seeing them again. I still ride my 2013 GTS300 Super (Dragon Red) all the time. But on long distance extended day rides, I bought a 2022 Kymco AD550. Great ride with a bunch of power. Also, the leg forward riding position is more comfortable on long rides. Post more when you can. Bob Copeland
Here is the Kymco Rocket. Amazing acceleration.
The Vespa is still more fun to ride. Fall Colors in my neighborhood recently

Hi Bob,
I just returned from a vacation to the San Francisco area with my wife. On the flight to the USA, we had a 4-hour stopover in Minneapolis. We didn't leave the airport, but even on the airport itself we both felt everyone was sĂł friendly and welcoming. And into adventure and the wilderness, it seemed. We loved it a lot and might visit someday in the future. Later I realized you are from Minnesota. You seem to fit right in . Joeri

Sorry for the delayed response. Here in Minnesota, the people call it "Minnesota Nice". Just a bunch of nonassumming humble immigrants from Scandinavia 100 years ago. They all came here because the climate was cold like home.
The Queen of Norway visits here every year because there are more Norwegians here than in Norway. We even have a unique colloquial diction tha sounds norwegian. They call it "talking Fargo". Bob Copeland |
