Once loosened enough, you can barely wiggle your fingers in to undo the speedometer cable nut and then open front to back, not having to worry about that tab at the rear Steel mentioned. No prying involved!

Pictures worth a thousand words. Thought it was some kind of clip, didn't want to force it. Power cables now run to my GPS. Now I just have to connect it to power I'm running. And thanks for the link to the parts manual.
