Ryan's the man. Might want to change thread title though: Alta shut down over three years ago.

Most excellent video and post, thank you sir. The video definitely points the finger at some high level $%*&^%#...and it is to bad but I am an American and understand all to well...
I am a huge fan of Dominoes, love the game! Taught all my kids at a very young age mainly so I would have someone to play with but also for the life lessons the game provides. ' It teaches young kids basic mental math by counting and then taking shortcuts with mental math as they progress. It also teaches strategy in that as the Dominoes are played you can count and figure out based on what you have left in your hand what others may have left in their hand. And possibly depending on what Dominoes are left unplayed how you might manipulate the game to your advantage. It also teaches the basic strategy of the game in general that is also a good strategy in life in general, if you can't make points @^&$ it up! Seems like that's what Harley did here, they %^*@$ it up. |

In my area Dominoes teaches you to drink liquor and beer in a group setting, as in 40's and such. I live in the 'hood so dominoes is based primarily on trash talking while drinking, and less on math. Still enjoy the occasional game though.
I never had the chance to ride an Alta. I liked the Zero street bike, hated that weird Polaris thing that required shifting and I still want to ride a NIU, only the one equal to a 125cc. For now I ride class 3 ebikes. |

I didn't know about the Harley Davidson money connection. Strokes beard.
Odd now a small manufacturer can get it so right and a larger manufacturer get it so wrong. My local dealer stocks Zero and I've been promised a test ride on one with no obligation within the next month. My other dealer stocked NIU for a few months but gave it up after very low sales. |

Harley has a long history of screwing things up. Only miracles and dumb luck have kept them in business. Do you remember the AMF years? Why they didn't cease to exist when they were making that garbage when Triumph and Norton went out was one of the miracles.
I remember seeing a documentary about when Harley bought it back from AMF and started the just in time assembly line strategy with the sportsters in the early 80's that greatly improved quality and brought them back to life and still remember how the old ways of making front wheels for example where they would have years worth of supplies of them in the pile ready to go but half of them were garbage because there was no accountability, you could put a junk wheel in the good to go pile and they wouldn't discover the defect for a couple years. Under AMF it was an extremely poorly run company. Harley makes more on tee shirts and other clothing and stuff in the "brand" than they do on motorcycles. The keeping up with the Kardashians business model, sell the brand. The dominoes strategy of if you can't make points screw it up so no one else can make points either is clearly on display here. Sad to see them go and even sadder for the reason. |

I helped a friends dad restore an AMF era Harley. Big touring thing. He got it for an obviously good price and updated it over a year period. I learned a lot from helping. Best part was I got to take it out for the maiden voyage, and dropped it in the grass when I got back. He laughed his butt off! No damage to the bike or me, just a bruised ego.
