Hi?
Speaking to a guy on facebook who is selling a Vespa P200 mark 1 with key in headset.
After doing a reg check it says Vespa Douglas DN200 what is it? Is it worth the £2500 asking?
Thanks

Hi Lee , just checked the " for sales " in Scootering magazine and the P200's in there ,varying ages , are from £2000 to £3500 . The one that you are looking at is quite old as the Douglas factory stopped manufacturing / importing them in 1982 . It all comes down to condition and what you are willing to pay .

Spanish Motovespa. I like the early ones with the PX body and the Rally headset and forks. Driven many of them in holiday in majorca in the 80s. Worth less in UK than an original mk1 p200. I would certainly like to own one. Heres a brief description of them below.

It looks like a Spanish-built p200e.

The photos I can find look exactly the same, even the badge.

The good thing about a motovespa most of them Ive come across are rot free due to their hot Mediterranean climate. However, finding one that isnt heavily dented isnt so easy. Used as a mule for transport rather than a collectible thing of beauty. My recent motovespa import, a pk xl has no rot at all, only a bit of surface rust here and there and thats 35 years old. You might find things like stator plates are different, wiring to switching etc as they have to run lights during the day which i believe in the USA is the normal, in the UK it isnt. Finding an new old stock original stator for my PK XL was quite a challenge so im not sure about the DS and interchangeability of parts. If a DS with the rally headset and forks crops up here in the UK im certainly going to take a punt at buying. Ive only ever seen them over here in that red colour. They crop up in spain for around $1500-1600 sold as seen condition.
