None.
Primo Gucci Leather roll bags, plastic milk crates, Piaggio top cases, Vespa top cases, Shads, Givis, plywood boxes - they all spoil the otherwise sleek lines of a scooter, IMHO.

Refused them on my Forza and Burgman....but had to use them on my smaller scooters...to the detriment of their appearance.

They are useful - and can be a nice safety feature if you buy one with running & brake lights in them.....but they're ugly.
And apparently - a percentage of people buy a scooter rather than a motorcycle to haul stuff around. (I suspect it has more to do with fear of shifting)

That chili we had for dinner tasted great so at least I have some taste in my mouth!

I recently saw an apology for a bad review about a chicken sandwich. The guy wrote this terrible review about the most tasteless chicken sandwich he had ever taken a bite of. Finally a month later he realized he had lost his taste due to covid and after his taste had come back that it wasn't the chicken sandwich it was him so he wrote the apology

I like.
Big.
Butts and I cannot lie.
You other riders can't deny.
When a scooter rolls in
With an itty bitty waist
And a voluminous top case
Your shock's SPRUNG.
Wanna pull up tough
Cuz you notice that case was stuffed
Deep and the Wasp is wearing
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring...

Yeah, baby.
...Just a glove box, pet carrier, and a backpack?
Only if I'm bringing it home from the dealership.

Kudos to him. It's not an easy thing to admit to being wrong or fallible, especially in a public forum. It's a good step. It's an even better one if one not only owns their mistakes, but learns from them.

Bailed myself out with a $15 tap tonight. That was after realizing I danged up an odd thread when using a hammer and drift while distracted. Now I know how to fix it, have the tool to fix it and the reminder to be more attentive when driving fork legs out of a steering stem.

As for topcases, I put one on my little bike (Spade 150) and went for a 30L GIVI. Can't lie, makes the bikes butt look 'uge. I need to use it more and see if I can reconcile its utility with its impact on the bike's appearance.

I have some throw over saddlebags and take a backpack. I also have some stout re-usable bags to hook in the bag holder on my liberty and with the flat floor I can carry all I need without the butt ugly topcase.

Sometimes I have a kid for a passenger and then I make them wear the backpack, best of both worlds!

My Helix clone has a huge box and it serves at least one good purpose. My helmet fits in it. My two motorcycles have locking helmet hooks so they are almost as easy in that regard. I bought saddlebags that go over the seat and clip on to the bike for Americade. They worked like a charm. I popped them off and carried them into the hotel like suitcases. Put them back on to go home and ran the bike without them when riding up there.

I have one sitting in the garage for the new scoot. It will go on eventually.

I'm mostly agnostic on the aesthetics of topcases, although some are nicer than others. For the time being, I'm not putting one on my new ride, but simply using the seat bag I used on Melody, which is easy to add, remove, and hand-carry.
Nelson-Rigg Seat bag, on Melody: Not too bad-looking, but I never see it while riding.

In seriousness: to each their own.

In shenanigans... It could be worse. It could be a footlocker on a metropolitan.
I wish this was a picture I pulled from the internet. I took this picture back in 2015. I don't even want to THINK about how much that cantilevered the front wheel.
No, seriously....

I don't know about you guys - but when I'm riding I can't see my top-box, so I don't GAF. It does become very useful when I'm not riding, and filling it with groceries or better - beer.

I'm in the function over form camp. Practicality beats Preening.

If I opened the garage door and picked which bike to ride based solely on sexiness, the Vespa would never get taken out. It ranks second out of six. Yet I ride it much more frequently than the best looking bike. Aesthetics aren't everything. Love my top case.

I reluctantly put a top case on my first Vespa, because the pet carrier won't hold a modular helmet (or even a 3/4 helmet). However on the 2020 GTS HPE... yeah, the pet carrier won't hold a helmet, either.

I guess I've grown accustomed to the look with the top case - when I take it off (to strap something that wouldn't fit in the case back there), the bike looks nekkid. I added a color match panel to the Givi 37L top case, and it just looks like it belongs.

Beauty is in the eye of... well, you know. I don't "dress my bike up" for anyone but me.

I agree with the OP and greasy. Some people have no (read: bad) taste, and my scooter looks much better without a top case.

I toyed with attaching a top case on the pillion seat to use it as a backrest. I liked the look more, but never followed through. I have a problem.

I used to take the screen and top box off the LX regularly. It seemed to fool the ridiculously large primordial "you need a new scooter" part of my brain.
And then the "You need something more practical" part started to tingle.
Very satisfying knowing I'm smarterer than cave man me.

That could have been much worse than a danged thread. Careful attention needs to be paid whenever you are hitting something you are holding in your hand with a hammer.

I have a friend who works in an Urgent care in Albuquerque and he texted me all excited about getting to stitch this guy up, about how normally his job is pretty boring with urinary tract infections and virus' and when something like this comes in it goes on the resume. It made the national news even.

So despite the urgent care guys like to do these kind of patch jobs mangled fingers from missing with the hammer has no upside!

https://www.cnn.com/2022/02/14/us/new-mexico-albuquerque-stabbings/index.html

He said the cops were in there with him interviewing the vic while he was sewing him up. Doesn't sound like fun to me.

I like "naked" bikes of all sorts.

To the extent, that so far I've refused to use any fixed sidebags or topcases in by bikes - the definition of fixed includes metal gadgets to fix removable bags and boxes.

Yet, when I had my Vespa, I did opt for a topbox Scoot is a practical vehicle, right...? A confession: I thougth I'd use Vespa more for my commuting. In the end mostly preferred a car, a fact that the lazy, comfort-seeking me should have known, in the Northern climate.

And of course, if would ride a GS Bimmer, it would kind of have to include all the walk-in-closet -thingies, because...well, because. I won't, but I know it would.

I also am not a fan of top cases. I have an OEM on that I take on and off regularly. Always have it on when riding two up. Mrs. CLE is more comfortable with the back rest. When by my self, I pop the case off and just go with the rack. No real reason other than I like the look.

Nothing screams scooter like a top box. I don't like the look and I think it'll keep the haters guessing. Just like the BBK vs bigger bike argument, if I can't carry it on the floorboard and backpack, I drive a bigger vehicle.

You too, eh?

'Course, I insisted that whatever scoot I got had to be highway-capable, thus came Melody (and, subsequently, Thelonica, mere days ago). I see you just got a Sei Giorni, so same-same but different.

With the Forza and Burgman - I agree that a top case is superfluous. They have enough under seat storage to accommodate full face helmets and plenty of stuff at other times.

For smaller scoots, it does become a necessary item for many. When I was commuting on my GTS everyday, I needed room for my laptop, lunch and non-riding shoes while in the office. For touring, the top case is a great place for all the miscellaneous stuff I might need.

I can't store my modular helmet under the seat, so the top case serves as secure and weatherproof storage when off the bike.

Personally, I think the red BV200 pictured above looks awesome with top and side cases.
