I'm changing the gearbox oil soon, and it was recommended that I go with regular 30W non-detergent oil, and I know that is what is in there now. I searched a bit and see that some are using more modern synthetics. My shifting is not great, and I know that can be many things, but what is the current recommendation for gearbox oil?

This is for my '66 VLB 150 Sprint

are you just changing or are you doing a clutch rebuild at the same time?

if just changing, stay with ND30

if you want to change, wait until you upgrade or rebuild the clutch.

but you're spot on, the shifting could be any number of things and I'd suspect the oil least of all.

Just a drain and fill after the recent rebuild. I'll stick with the 30W. The shifting is really not bad, probably just me getting used to how it feels since it's my 1st twisty-shifty (I just made that up, feel free to use it) Thanks for the responses.

the GTV= twisty
the VLB= shifty

don't cross the streams, it would be bad.
