British 1962 Documentary Film on the Scooter Commuter ; this is brilliant. Typical plum accent of the very British commentator. Enjoy.

That was brilliant, mate, brilliant. 👍

It makes one realize how prolific the Lambretta was in Britain. There were very few Vespas in the footage.
"Invented in Britain"? I wonder what that means. It's a great film.

Well of note a few things I noted.

Spotting a vespa, isnt that a silver GS at the start taking off from the traffic lights?

The dual control lambretta from the lambretta learning instructor. Dual linked clutch, brake, wow. Did you see his sit up and beg handle bar contraption? Yes, it appears lambretta were the big player in the UK but then again i was always under the assumption that the vespa was a more elite machine for stylists.

I noted the sexism in play, 40% of these scooters are driven by woman, but are constructed and checked by men, as if to say they are definitely safe as a man checked them.

The paratrooper corgi portable scooter, heard about them but never seen one in the flesh. The paratrooper with his old bolt action Lee Enfield rifle didnt look particularly comfortable.

What the flip was the woman driving to the town, she took it out the back of a Ford Anglia car. It looked like the thing used in the film dumb and dumber when they get stuck together driving through the freezing terrain. It has a lawn mower engine pull cord starter on it.

The Triumph Tina automatic scooter tester, well he certainly was giving it a good thrashing. At one point taking off and leaving the ground.

It was also fun to try and name the cars and lorries in the film.

Its a great piece of history this, stumbled upon it accidentally. A real gem. If people want to grab it as a download to keep, you can use something like the 4k video downloader. Other products available. I try and offline this stuff in case they disappear in the future.
