For those of you that have netflix the headspace guide to meditation is fantastic. Focused concentration is the idea behind it and probably the most common thing to focus on is the breath. I really like it and I can sometimes hear Andy in my head even when I am not watching/listening to the show.
I was doing exactly that just the other day in the Dentists chair. Very hard to focus on the breath while in the chair with the Dentist and assistant working away but I tried my best and it did help.
Years ago I had a friend tell me that being at work was his "escape from reality". Most of my career I had a fairly dangerous job that required focused concentration so that you don't hurt yourself or others so in that respect a similar concept to the meditation.
I think the same thing applies to riding. Driving the car is much more relaxed as you have the safety of the car around you. I think that riding the scooter/motorcycle/bicycle requires a little more focused concentration and so in that way riding combines a fun pleasurable activity with something to focus your concentration on.
