Wanting to change out the grips on my Stella 2T. Has anybody done this? Seems like a simple procedure but just want to know if here is anything I need to look out for or any tips. I don't have an air compressor which seems like it helps a lot getting the new grips on. Are grip sizes pretty standardized? I'm thinking about putting these Van's grips on. Thanks

I just cut the old ones off with a knife and tap the new ones on with the palm of my hand. I've heard of spraying the inside of grips with hairspray. Makes them easier to slide on and dries hard and sticky.

I use water or windex for removal/install
Shove a phillips screwdriver or other small round thing between the grip & the bar/throttle tube, spray in some liquid & twist
Bicycle grips won't fit over the throttle tube, just too thick

Are those the CULT/VANS grips with the different dimensions, small for left/larger for throttle side? If not, you can get the standard size grip over the throttle tube but it stretches the grip out a bit.

I use clear spray paint to install grips. Others will say rubber cement, actual grip glue (Cycle Gear sells it in store), hairspray (used on BMX bikes) and plain old soapy water.

Tip: Spray clear spray paint inside grip and have a damp rag on hand. No matter what you do it makes a bit if a mess. And remember to leave space on the throttle side. Don't go over the tube end, your throttle will stick! Note factory spacing before removing old grips.

Cut the old grips off , clean the bars up , smear the bars with a little neat dishwashing liquid and the new grips should push on easily ( as long as you get them the right way round , of course ) .

I believe these vans grip come with two different sizes. In that installation video he mentions that the vintage vespas have identical diameter handlebars so you need to buy two sets since the larger diameter will be too big. I have a Stella 2T and I'm not sure if the handle bar sizes are the same or different. Trying to figure out if I need to buy two sets or not.

I found this problem with an LML Star Auto that I bought . I had a pair of " sundance " grips that fitted Piaggio scooters perfectly , but had to machine them bigger on the inside diameters ( they are made of metal ) to fit the LML . Obviously not standard sizes , which I think is 7/8" on the left and 1" on the right , or 22mm and 25,4 mm metric.
