Hi Guys and Gals.
Recently brought a vespa P200 with mallossi 210. Standard carb. Earlier today i was high throttle at high revs when it seemed to act like it was running out of fuel. Just a brrrrrrrrrr backed off and it seemed great. Ive had a scooter heat sieze on me before and it never felt like that was happening.
My question is will a fast flow fuel tap help me with fuel starvation as i think thats the issue. Im going to be checking the plug and jets as i dont quite think they are right at all.
Ive saw the BGM one on ebay for around £22 but it has no tap handle like the SIP one so will the standard tap lever be okay on a fast flow system?
Thanks for reading
Lee

Possibly may need to drill the float chamber hole in the carb. A fast flow tap in addition to that too.

I think that the term fuel starvation is widely misused. I ran two stock fuel tabs on two P200 with both Malossi 210 Sports. The sympton that you describe is likely a fuel tap going bad, it happened to me and I went with BGM3030 but you have to be careful with the BGM 3030 as they are very sensitive on the reserve/full flowing valve, what I mean with that is that when the fuel is close to be on reserve level when you try to switch to reserve sometimes it wouldn't start.

Another thing that I found by accident is that for instance on my 05 PX the original fuel valve was full open turned to the left(counter clockwise), now with the BGM 3030 counterclockwise is reserve and in the middle is open.

One quick question. Is it doing what you are describing randomly or all the time at full throttle?

Ive not had a lot of miles on it myself. I was told the kit still needed around 100 miles to run in which i reckon ive done. But thats about it. Its coming out on the weekend for a better run down towards Bridgnorth. It was literally just going up the hill and it took me by suprise. I reached for the clutch but realised it wasnt siezing just as if for example my old LML when i needed to switch to reserve it would start to die then pick up then die once on reserve would be back to normal this is what it felt like today but when i backed off at the island and went round the island it was okay.
I have noticed its a little boggy for example if i was to rev at a red light or pulling away it would it will splutter before picking up.

Which malossi kit is it? MHR, sport or old? What exhaust?

It may not have had any setting up at all. Now you know there are issues, everything needs to be checked.

SIP 2.0 tap is the best one there is.

Get a new 8mm fuel hose to go with it and that's two things done. https://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/product/fuel-hose-toyox_40281300

No idea what the kit is mate, just know its a 210 malossi. Is there any way to tell if i take the head off etc. are there any markings that you can tell if its a MHR sport or old?.
It also has a SIP road 2, but im not keen. Want an expansion chamber with more of a rev band. Im not on a budget so to speak but would need to save to afford a decent exhaust. Readspeed has quoted me 375 for a JL, but i can get a simonini for £170 that ive had on my 125s in the past.

Remove the cowl from the cylinder and post a photo. We should be able to identify the kit.
If spending £375 on an exhaust get a proper one.

They make a carb spacer that increased the fuel bowl size. I had a similar problem with my Pinasco 210 kit at extended high revs. I first put on a fast flow tap. Didn't fix it. Put on the spacer and problem gone!

Wouldn't hurt to pull jets and list them here to start with. Good for your records and others can compare to theirs to see if it's close.
