Hi Everyone

New to the forum, we have a 2019 Vespa Primavera 50 with Carb. I have noticed that when I start it, the engine idling seems to go up and down, but does NOT stall. After a few minutes (maybe 2-3 min. of idling) it seems to be better and more steady idling.

Any suggestions as to where or what I should start looking at?

Thank you.
Frank

Hello, and welcome!

I have a couple of carbureted Vespas, and they both need a couple of minutes to get happy when it's colder out. Your profile says you're in Canada too. So maybe it's normal? Or are you saying it did not do this previous winters?

Hi Berto

Thank you for the reply. I was just trying to tune it up for the upcoming season, still too cold for me to go riding...

I just find the idling fluctuating a little too much, even after it has warmed up. I was just wondering if maybe it's a "Vacuum Leak" that may be causing it?

Also, do you have a link to proper steps for Vespa 50 and setting the Air/Fuel mixture and Idle Screws?

Thanks

clubplug, welcome to MV! Since it's too cold to ride, maybe post a few pics. It's a sure-fire way to engage the rabble 'round here. Razz emoticon

Welcome. It may well be a vacuum leak and its running a little lean. Check that your hoses are all well connected and clamped. Inspect the hoses as well. On that new a model the intake should be good but inspect that for any cracks, even a small one well cause your problems.
