Hi all -

Apologies for the newb post, I did my best to search but could not find a photo that exactly showed / confirmed my question.

I just bought 2006 LX150, having previously owned a 2009 LX150 which was run over while parked by a delivery truck (RIP).

Anyway, the 2006 LX150 is great, except the pet carrier area under the seat smells STRONGLY of fuel when I open it up, and everything inside of it now smells of fuel as well (gloves, towels, seat cover, etc).

I did some research on the EVAP system, and while I know it's common to delete it all together, I don't find that to be needed. However, looking through some diagrams, it appears that my scooter might be missing a hose from the EVAP system to the side of the carb.

Could someone please confirm if this is accurate? I am wondering if this missing hose is the cause of my fuel smell

I can't find any other source of the potential fuel smell except for the open hose at the T-clamp running to the roll-over valve.

Thank you!

that hose is the evap and it should go to that port. however, if you overfill the tank even the slightest amount it cause poor performance, idling and hard starts. leaving it open does no harm.

it probably smells strongly of fuel because somebody overfilled it and that's where it's emanating from.

it appears your fuel and vacuum lines are original, I'd highly recommend checking them for cracks and deterioration. besides leading to a break down that may also be the source of the fuel smell.

Thanks for the confirmation, I'll hook it up correctly.

And yes, they look to be all original. I am ordering a new fuel tap just to be safe (and to replace the fuel filter) so I'll just go ahead and replace all the fuel & vacuum lines as well.

thank you!

honestly, I'd leave the evap be. it does no harm one way or another.

if you're going that far into it with the tap and lines, I'd suggest throwing it a #38 idle jet if it hasn't been done. it'll run much better on the low end.

Thanks for the tip - ordering a #38 now.

And yes, I'm leaving the evap alone, just replacing the old lines as well as the old fuel tap/filter.

Thanks again
