Modern Vespa

That's the word I got today. Been to their HQ in Philly, which is cool, but a wee bit of a haul for checking out the right size of moto shoes or the like. This will be a scosche closer, and anyways, I roll into Gotham (my birthplace) a lot more. (Hey, might even run into Spurge, Brandon, and maybe even Lemmy at the opening.)

We had a new one of those come to Denver. Right next to Erico Motorsports. I went in and checked it out a while back. Friendly staff, nice hipster buiild out on the space. Not much selection. It was kind of a disappointment really. They didn't stock the helmet I was interested in. They were all wearing masks and seemed to take the order seriously. I ended up buying the helmet from them online. They are now part of the Cycle Gear, J&P group.

I wonder how long til they merge the brand with Cycle Gear.

TBH, RevZilla is the better brand. Aside from helmets, Cycle Gear is just a bunch of shitty in-house gear, plus a pick up in store shadow RevZilla.

I think CoMoto Corp or whatever they call themselves own both revzilla and Cycle Gear. Someone definitely owns both now. That's why you see the bleed over on some products.

25 Hall Street, Brooklyn: that is just down the street from Vespa Brooklyn, which I believe is the country's largest Vespa dealer by sales volume, even larger than Vespa Sherman Oaks or Scooterwest/Vespa Motorsport.

Yes, they own both, as well as JP Cycles. It's a huge conglomerate that prevents many motorcycle dealers and shops from even bothering with ecommerce because it's too difficult to fight a monopoly.

The local independently owned motorcycle shop is the backbone of our community. These monopolies have so much buying power and get so much in kick-backs from the distributors that they can sometimes sell to consumers (retail) for more than what your local indie shop can buy from the distributor (wholesale).

I'm not saying they're the evil empire of the motorcycle galaxy... But you should ask your favorite local shops that bail you out when you're up the creek without the paddle how the umbrella corporation impacts them... It might change your opinion on wanting to support them.
