I can't remember which scooters have a...not an alternator, but the moto version. That thing. The one with the magnets that occasionally kicks the bucket.
Maybe?
Stator?

I was in a very warm Edinburgh today strolling through Princes Street Gardens. It's turning cold again after this weekend, I hope it won't stop you fitting your new switch.

Let's hope a new starter switch or relay fixes it.

To be honest, I'm brave trying the switch. It will definitely be a mechanic job if this doesn't work 🤪

Someone mentioned the kill switch early on in the posts.

I had this on a motorcycle. At first it was intermittent, then it failed completely.

I tried cutting the wires and jumping, but that didn't work.

Replaced the kill switch (which was integrated with the starter button and keeping it dead) and all was fine.

We have the same problem in Turkey. 2017 vespa 300i. Added new starter ruble. New battery added. Added new starter relay. Added new starter gear. the problem continues. When the engine is cold, it runs on one start. but it doesn't run when the engine is hot. were you able to find a solution?

My Lx125 starts even under 12V
I suggest you use contact cleaner on the switch and also on the rear brack lever senso.
You could install one of this usb chargers that have the voltage displayed. It will help you to keep the battery under control.
Btw I tries to charge it with a battery charger with that repair system. Got it charged at 13.7V but it can't keep it sonI guess it's time to change it.

Can you explain a bit in more detail what you mean with "it doesn't run when the engine is hot"?
Could be: you press the starter button, you hear the starter motor running but the engine does not fire up.
Or could be: you press the starter button and nothing happens.

So…. The saga continues.
This weeks update. Sorry to bore you all.

Having fitted the new battery and switch AND having surpassed my mechanic skills, no real improvement on day one. However, over the weekend, I rebuilt the headset since I was left with two screws when I first rebuilt it - yes, I am that inept. And when I tried to start it, just by chance, it started second time and ran well. Stopped and restarted and low and behold, started first time again. Third time - dead! SO I cancelled the £60 pick up my Local garage we're charging me and dropped it off this afternoon at said garage for them to give it a once over - started second time today so managed the ride to Fife for my mechanic to help me out. Will update you once I get it back, hopefully Thursday.

So glad it's fixed! Mind adding the model year to your profile? That will help others.
