Hey friends! Anyone install the 183cc cylinder kit (https://www.scooterwest.com/primavera-sprint-liberty-3v-2018-iget-183cc-63mm-bore-cylinder-kit-w-ecu-mapper-not-for-946-or-fly.html) on their 150 recently?

I already have an Akrapovic exhaust installed, but am looking for a bit more acceleration and power. Would love to hear some thoughts on whether it's worth it or not, thanks!

it's spendy but gives great accel and midrange. top end doesn't change much, but you get there quicker and can pull hills and two up with ease.

It will do you a lot more good than an after market exhaust ever would.

A bit like an aftermarket variator then? Razz emoticon

Just a different way of getting there. Of course, both would be better.

Just curious. Why doesn't the kit mentioned fit a 946?

This is great news, thank you. Is installing the cylinder kit alone enough? Or should I also consider changing something like the variation weights to get the full effect?

Looks like there's a different kit for the 946: https://www.scooterwest.com/malossi-183cc-cylinder-kit-w-ecu-mapper-vespa-946-fly-150-3v-m3116669.html

you can change just the rollers or go with a whole aftermarket variator which will compliment the cylinder kit and exhaust nicely.

sort of, but not really. while you can tune the vario for a little more top speed and quicker acceleration, the bigger CC's really punch in the midrange and when you're riding two up or in the hills. the torque plays the big factor.

100% agree if it was 125 to 183 but when I had a 155 I was not convinced about punch per dollar.

So I have been keeping my eyes open for a 2016 Sprint with ESS.

it's worth it, even at 150 to 183. those couple of CC's with a lighter piston and more compression make a difference. the kit is always my number one recommended performance upgrade. everything from there just compliments it.

I just installed this kit on my 2016 Sprint in December, along with the 12.5 gram rollers. I'm very pleased with it so far. It's not a huge change, but like Greasy said, it noticeably helps with off the line acceleration and pulling uphill or into the wind. I find myself rarely needing to use full throttle around town, whereas before I would use it quite a lot. It has not harmed the streetability either (I still have the stock clutch and variator--just lighter rollers).

Should be doing the break-in oil change this weekend or next, at around 300 miles on the kit. I am located near LAX if you want to take a look.

just an FYI, stock rollers are 10 gram

12 & 12.5 are a nice compliment to the kit in a stock vario

9's with the kit are a little light.

This is the belt service kit that I installed, but it's intended for the stock engine. Would you recommend 12.0 vs 12.5 gram rollers for the next belt change? I also have the Malossi pipe with DB killer installed.

oh derp! my bad. I had a brain fart, you're 3V 150 so your stockers are 15g

I'd keep the 12.5's personally, but that's my riding style. 12's will make it a little more zippy off the line. anything less than that and you'll start to sacrifice top end and without tuning the clutch you're losing what jump off the line you'd get.
