Two questions...

1. Will a three-quarter helmet fit under the seat or only a half helmet?
2. Has anyone been able to lock a helmet with D-ring via the lock columns under the seat? This feels like an impossible pursuit...Which helmet do you have if so?!

Thanks!

The D-ring helmets rings fit/work on the Liberty unseat tabs. Some shorter strap helmets are a tight fit, also larger full face also. None of my helmets fit under the seat.

I posted my solution under the 'Locking full face helmet to discourage casual thieves' thread, about halfway down the forum.

I have an HJC full face helmet with D ring that will lock on the little post under the seat. You just have to get the angle right. It is something like this one:

I can fit a half helmet under the seat, with room for some other stuff under it. I rarely use it because it is old and cheap and I value my noggin more now that when I bought it 20 years ago! It is a Fulmer helmet that is something like this:

My Large HJC CS-R3 full face comes nowhere close to being able to fit in the pet carrier. It can be locked to the undersea posts using the D-rings, though it's a little fiddly to get it on there.

If you want to use the under-seat post and it's being difficult, just use one D ring (usually the one with the little strap) instead of both. It makes a difference when it's "almost."

Yes, my 3/4 large LS2 Spitfire, which has an internal visor, just barely fits inside.
Yes, I've hung a few different helmets outside from the peg under the seat.

Thanks for the insight, I was taking a look at a few Spitfire models!

This did the trick! Tried it out tonight and my full-face Shoei fit snugly!

My XXXXL Nolan will fit in my truck. Not my scooters.
So I wear it into places, remove it when I sit down.
After 9 years it no longer raises an eyebrow.....not that it ever would, in Yellow Springs 💛
P.S.

I started riding during the pandemic. One time, I stopped at the bank to simply walk in and pick up some paper deposit slips. I had forgotten to bring a mask, so I figured I'd just leave my helmet on with visor down, run in and get them. This was in the middle of summer, but because I was a spanking brand new rider, I was wearing armored pants, jacket, boots etc... even though it must've been 90F+ degree out. Didn't think much of it until I rushed in and saw the startled look on the teller's face! LOL. But then again, this is NYC where people are always on the lookout for crazy things to happen.
