Modern Vespa

I started here with zero Keys. No red no brown no blue. Zip.

I followed instructions and ordered the Malossi EDU.

Out of stock.

I then ordered and installed the CDI with a TUMBLER.

Now what?

What is the difference between a CDI and the Malossi EDU?

It is my understanding that I now have to send these parts straight back to where they came from so they can be programmed. but why wouldn't they just send them to me Programed? I'm so confused.

I tried the instructions inserting the key, waiting 3 seconds…etc. nothing.

I had to sneak my Vespa up into my apartment in the middle of the night so I could finish this because people were looking at me weird while I screamed in frustration.

let's take this step by step:

you were instructed to order the malossi CDI, and because it was out of stock you ordered another CDI? and key set? which CDI? which key set?

so I'll assume you ordered a stock CDI with an immobilizer and a stock key set with the immobilizer chip and matching blue key?

the stock CDI has to be programmed with the chipped key set. if you've already tried to install it and program it, chances are you did it wrong and bricked it.

the suggestion was to get the malossi CDI because it doesn't have the immobilizer, and therefore doesn't have to be programmed, it's plug and play and is also significantly cheaper.

does this sound right?

while I am happy to offer advice on a repair; I do not and will not participate in online consultation. there are too many variables the least of which being that you did not purchase the parts from me and I don't know what your level of mechanical aptitude is.

at this juncture, I'd suggest you contact a professional that specializes in modern vespa repair or at least has intimate knowledge of this type of repair.
