Buy and pick up this beauty. Edit this was originally a helping a friend thread. Said friend then sells this scooter to me. Now the beginning of this thread won't be as odd.

New projects showing up right and left right now. I love it!

Runs fine. Nothing major or minor really needs to be done. 62 ish Allstate just like Qascoter's. B-62jr.

Tires are old. Pogo fork may get swapped for a Vespa fork. Needs a new seat cover which I have for him.

Ripped around the parking lot for a bit and first thing I noticed was, good lord these are slow! 😂

He got it for $1960. Gave the guy $2k and he gave back $40 for gas. Super awesome guy. Works at a car/motorcycle museum in Hershey. My friend is super stoked, as am I as I now have a friend to wrench and ride with. USA USA USA!!!

He had me keeping an eye out for a project but this was too clean to pass up. The paint is still shiny! It's been kept in dry storage for decades, dude replaced the fuel line and nothing else. Og clutch that shifts excellently. Also has the speedo blanking plate $$$$

Yeah, I had a friend who'd had me on the lookout. She's going to take the Stella that comes with the Smallstate I'm buying. Electric start, neutral light, etc. will be a good fit for her.

You have to really love the weird ones to bang on those. Slow, thirsty, lousy electricals. Hopefully it's a later model.

That's an 84. Still trying to find a part for it so I can start rebuilding it. Keep forgetting to message Kyle at Kyle's scooter shop about it. It's def a weird one that's for sure.

One good thing is it's got a VNB engine that's not piston ported. So upgrading it to a useable speed won't be too hard.

oddly... what do you need for it? I have a mountain of parts from, uhhh... things and stuffs... and while I threw out an absolute shit-tonne, I may have what you need.

I might have one of those lurking about too. Same year/color. Hoping to get to it in my lifetime. I may be interested in things and stuffs too.

Proudest moment was finding a Polini pipe for it. Why? Dunno, just the fact that somebody made some sort of performance part for those was appreciated.

No way! I know that scoot. I almost bought it from that same guy last year. He was trying to pass it off as a '58. Check the VIN, and the year, doesn't match its Vermont registration card. At least it didn't 8 months ago.

Registration had been updated since then. Says it's a 63 on the registration but the motor and frame both date to 62.

Guy was super nice. I saw it for sale twice before too. When it came up again I let my friend know, if I had the cash right now I would have grabbed it. But I'm also in the mood to rebuild and this one doesn't need much at all. It's a runner. Just slow slow slow. I tried real hard to pop a wheelie which on my bike I have to try real hard NOT to wheelie.

I paid $1,700, delivered, many many moons ago. No blanking plate, someone stole it. The previous owner was pissed.

Mine was registered as a 62 and the VIN was the engine number. I had it moved to the chassis number so now I can put whatever engine in and not worry about the man...

It's probably a VNB2 engine, three speed. Mine is anyway.

I did a bunch so it'd go over 45 mph, electronic ignition, Pinasco 177 kit, speedo, front end rework, and the latest, a very cool side stand and helmet hook. Ha!

I love that brake pedal. Is that standard attire for Vespas of this vintage? I'm a 70's and later type of guy, so haven't seen these real oldies up close

It is! Not sure when they switched but I also love it, the waffle is top notch.

Yep same badge and VNB2M motor which I am stoked for him about. Makes the motor upgrades a bit easier.

Today I helped him learn how to drive the Allstate. And boy did we have fun. Took him a while to figure out getting out of first but once he did we decided to go rip around the city. Started out at my house then took the river drives into the heart of the city. What a gorgeous day. No new donuts for his bike though. We checked them before we left and the tires had no cracks and only had maybe 10 miles on them? They are pretty much brand new. Sweet. Stopped at the coffee shop for pastries first then headed down town for lunch. What a perfect day. 70° Sunny and scoots. A plus.

Things I learned. Don't really need a front brake. Rode all day without the cable attached. Put about 25miles on her and had a blast. Hit 61.1 mph on the way back when I decided to use the GPS app to see my speed.

Leaked a bunch of fuel when he parked it for the night. Forgot to warn him about leaving the fuel tap open. Whoops.

So I had him take the plug out and kick it over a bunch to try to clear it out. That didn't help, he put the plug back in and still couldn't get it to not die out idling. Spark plug is pretty pretty dark and he said he was sputtering at WOT when we rode. Had him take the plug out and let it sit for awhile before trying again after cleaning the plug with a wire brush. Going to clean the carb out too but am I missing any suggestions before the carb getting cleaned?

His plug looks like my Yamaha plug which I know is very rich as it has a devil of a time restarting when warm.

Dunno what his jetting is yet. Once I know that I can report back.

Assuming its stock, the Allstate should be like the 125 VNB. Clogged fuel tap filter maybe?

Oh, is this that one that had the speedo blanking plate? I saw that on Facebook Marketplace. I've met that guy too when he was selling a VBB that I almost bought before finding my smallframe.

Thanks for the chart! I'm going to go pick it up tonight so I'll dig into it this week. Check the jets and carb and what not. Check the exhaust too. Can't imagine that's without gunk!

Yep that's the one! The blanking plate is so strange. Can't believe a speedo was an upgraded option back then lol.

I love those blanking plates. If anyone has a spare to let go, I'll bite. Would look great with my piles of other random junk

We didn't get a front shock! I'm surprised they came with a headlight standard.

Ya dont need a shock if yer boucing roun yer farm

He may be willing to let go of that but I'm not 100% on it.
