Hi There,

I'm installing a new brembo front brake caliper and I've come to find that my wheel hub does not clear the caliper, photos attached. I've confirmed this is the correct caliper model per sip scooter shop [model 20516579], so I'm a bit baffled.

Any great insight from here would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you as always,

HermosaBeachGuy

Thanks Greasy, I imagine my dremel tool won't have the power to do it. Which is better to compromise the hub or the caliper?

With brembos on a 300 i believe you need a bracket eg by zelioni. Are you using one, i can't tell from your photo?

Hey Steelbytes, yes I'm using the Zelioni bracket. I used my dremel to shave some mm's off of the caliper.

I have the clearance I need now. I wonder if I need to paint and coat the area I shaved to prevent rust and oxidation. I live about a mile from the sea.

Greasy a big thank you to you for advising on the material removal on the caliper. She's on, by the hair of ants ass.

I'm not loving how the brake line rests on the shock reservoir. Probably time for a new brake line which was what I was hoping to avoid. I don't think a different angled banjo will get the job done.

all roads lead to Rome, amigo.

I'd probably do the hub rather than a shiny new caliper.

a sanding roll on a Dremel should be fine. personally, I like when the answer is violence so I'd be gettin out the big guns.

all kidding aside, a little of column A and a little of column B would be fine.

paint wise, I mean, it's aluminum so I wouldn't really stress on it. but if you do, prep it right and shoot it with a dab of clear that's appropriate for brakes, engines or exhaust. no cheapy krylon here, that stuff gets hot.

You could try using a rubber grommet on the brake line where it touches the shock resorvoir, like one of these...

that's excellent. not in a critical area and well done. I may suggest removing just a hair more to allow for thermal expansion. so, like two hairs of a gnats ass or 1.5 whole frog hairs. I believe this would be equal to 2mm

there *should* be a clip on the fork bracket where the suspension guard mounts up (the hole above the clip) but I can see it's gone. that clip retains the brake line. so you can source another or you could use an adel clamp. I mean, a zip tie would work, but let's do good work while it's open! I don't think you're getting much of anything with a different angle until you fab a whole new line up.

it's not a ton of dough, but just fiddly trial and error to get the *exact* look you want.

After a precise 2 hairs of a gnats ass of milling. We have a complete install. See pics below.

Early verdict is there stopping power improvement and the delivery is butter smooth, though, I don't like the amount of brake lever travel to activate the brake. Spongy is the feeling they comes to mind. Either I'll have to get used to it or figure out a new lever situation. I was hoping for a more snappy sensation with the braking system like my sport bike.

Anyhow it does look nice for what it's worth.

Thanks to all for coming along for the ride.
