So... I have the original flyscreen. I need to take it off to check out the headlight assembly and flush the brake fluids.

I loosened the hex bolts the go into the bodywork. I can pull them towards me just fine... until after about 1 inch or so there's a very clear "Ain't going any further now, my friend!" metal stop.

And indeed, it doesn't go any further.

I know this also was a bit of a hassle on my LX, which uses the same system. But there, with a decent amount of force and some wiggling, it would surrender in the end.

The GTS flyscreen, sadly, stands strong and it won't give in.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Whack the elbow with a mallet to loosen the wedge. It is similar to a bicycle stem.

I find I have to rotate the elbow bolts 90 degrees. obviously this means removing the screen from the bolts first (the four little bolts)

Thanks for all your advice and the link to the other thread.

Wacking the elbows with whatever I had at hand didn't solve the problem. Rotating the arms, as steelbytes suggested, immediately fixed it.

So: problem solved!
