I replaced the worn out brake pads on the front wheel of my Zuma. Now the wheel doesn't turn. The caliper is not retracting, I suppose, I've drained any excess brake fluid. Think there's a caliper rebuild in my future?
Unfortunately the caliper is prone to corrosion and fine grit inside the bore and on the piston due to all the rain , dust and salt thrown up from the road , which will eventually seize it solid , it happened on my LML . I had to buy a new caliper , the piston would'nt move at all . A rebuild definitely beckons . Check the "o" rings on the piston , these may need replacing .
The bore looks ok. The o-rings look bad. Somewhat puzzling in that the crud and corrosion doesn't look bad enough to prevent the piston from moving. I'll get new seals and try again.
How's the brake fluid level?? If it was topped up with worn pads, you're now trying to squeeze a lot more volume in the "tank" by pushing back the caliper pistons…
