I ordered parts from SIP. They've been awaiting inspection for 3 weeks. Is this usual?
My first order from them came quickly. This one is stalled. How long would you wait before crying foul?

This day and time...a lot longer than I would've in, say, 2019, especially if shipping involves international anything. If it's something on back order, doubly so.
I haven't ordered from there, but in the past 2 years I've had packages stuck in customs limbo for over a month and have watched tracking on a 3-package order that shipped out the same day hit delays that had them arrive over a span of 3 weeks. |

Just a follow up:
The parts arrived today. That's 3 weeks from placing the order. I'll leave it to you to decide if that's too long. For me the wait was frustrating. But I get it. These are crazy times. |

Could be worse: could be waiting on Ducati parts from Italy. Even before COVID, certain OEM parts took for-friggin-ever to arrive. (My Genuine Scooter dealer was a Triumph/Ducati shop.) Wait times that ate up the entire warm-weather riding season were pretty much par for the course at the time. (2009-2013 that I knew of.)

Ok.... I ordered a new front tire back in early November 2021. Still waiting. Your 3 weeks is a cake walk.

I ordered fork seals for my Honda from an online dealer, waited four months since they said they were on backorder. Finally called and found out they were out of business. My credit card company is dealing with that.
I ordered the seals from eBay and they came within a week. The shop replaced the seals in four days. Hopefully the new ones last longer than the thirty-one years of the last ones. |

My parcel from SIP has been in Frankfurt waiting for a flight for four weeks. But I don't believe the tracking anymore. It could be on my doorstep tomorrow.

Just got a delivery from SIP late yesterday, that I'd put in for a little under two weeks ago. About the same spam of tome it took when I ordered from them a few years back. Everything I ordered (GTS Euro-spec Flyscreen, sight-glass-equipped HPE oil pan, Cuppini crashbars) was in-stock, and I do know that unless you pay a few bucks extra to get kicked up in the queue, it usually takes 3-5 days for an order to get processed.

I took out the uncertainity factor and just order thru a reputable stateside parts source who is kind enough to not only answer all my annoying questions but also PM's me with a: hey, your shit is here. forgot it was with that order. I'll get it boxed up and off to you tomorrow.
but this day in age? 3 weeks is about rate. |
