Hello, I am going to do an oil change on my 2019 Vespa Primavera 50 and it is my first time. In the owners manual it says bring it to authorized service provider for oil change but I am broke college kid so am going to do it myself.

I still don't understand why they don't put what type of oil to use in the owners manual or maybe I am just not looking hard enough.

Anyways I found online that it uses 5W-40 oil and in the video that I found the guy was using full-synthetic Castrol SAE 5W-40 motorcycle engine oil(see photos). At the local store or any store that I have checked so far, all they have is SAE 5W-40 full-synthetic Castrol oil (not motorcycle specific)(see photos). I was just wondering if this is fine to use or should I search much harder/pay 3 times the price to order off amazon to get the motorcycle specific stuff.

(I am attaching photos of what both bottles of oil look like for referance)
The motorcycle specific oil
The motorcycle specific oil
The non motorcycle specific oil

I think this:
Recommended products
eni i-Ride PG 5W-40 Synthetic based lubricant for high-performance four-stroke engines. JASO MA, MA2 - API SL - ACEA A3
CharacteristicEngine oil~
850 cm³

https://manuall.co.uk/vespa-primavera-50-4t-4v-scooter/

Someone will be along shortly to say any 5w40 is OK, then someone else will say that they're wrong.

MA is for bikes with a wet clutch. What CVT scooters use is Jaso MB.

But in truth, any 5W-40 will do the job.

The manual actually states to use MA... Wha? emoticon

Ok thanks guys.

Does anyone know what stores in Canada sell that oil in the gold bottle (picture above)? I have checked Canadian tire and napa auto parts. Also I am not wanting to buy the 5L bottle

Thanks

I'm just a little bit far from Canada (-only- 700 miles Laughing emoticon ), but the auto parts stores here keep the moto oil in a separate section from the auto oil. Worth checking?
If in doubt, I can always go to a dealership. Japanese multibrand shops typically have an oil section next to tires or something, or at least a parts counter.

This is what I buy:

https://fortnine.ca/en/motul-scooter-power-4t-synthetic-oil

Fortnine is world famous for making the best moto videos (reviews, science, and history), and they're the spot to buy moto stuff in Canada. It is a bit pricier than I'd expect though, and 22CAD per bottle.
