Modern Vespa

I may have missed the posting, but I have not seen much talk about this
national Vespa Rally. I am actually involved as a volunteer in the numerous
scheduled rides.

Are any of you ModernVespa rascals considering attending. I know we are
way up North in the Central Midwest - would love to have you in my town.

Thanks Kraig for the registration link. Again, I am not a principal in organizing
the rally just a lowly volunteer. The Twin Cities Scooter Collective has done a
bang up good job running all the previous rallys in Minnesota.

I know they will do a good job and really want to welcome you good folks to
our great State of "Fargo Speakers".

Attending my first AmeriVespa event. I will be hauling my scooter to the event from Arlington, TX. I wish they had some in-between options for rides, like a group of 150 riders that might want to attend the big ride but at a slower pace. Is that a option?

I am not one of the organizers but will be involved in the planning and will
assist in leading rides. There are whole sets of rides leaving in the morning
and in the afternoon that are designed for your scooter size.

Also, the big ride will be just that "Big and Slow".

There will be a category of larger frame scooters that will have a long distance
ride into SW Wisconsin. This may not be suitable - they need to cruise on the
freeway to get to much of the route.

So, my estimate, there will be numerous great rides to choice from. You will
not be disappointed. I should be around, looking forward to meeting you.

Attended another well organized Twin City Scooter Collective meeting that
is planning and organizing AmeriVespa.

Limited Update:

1. 270 folks have already preregistered for AmeriVespa so far. Building up to being
a well attended event.
2. This group is really into making the event comfortable and welcoming.
You will find staff around and available to help out with questions/directions and
suggestions.
3. I will be leading one of the rides.

I respect your position. In my local scooter riding group, we try to keep
politics out of the riding friendship. Although, even though I think
the folks running California are complete dysfunctional nut bags, I would not
hesitate to visit California.

Not that long ago, we had the reputation of "Minnesota Nice".

Again, I sincerely respect your position.

Back in 2015 there was a big mess in Indiana with anti LGBTQ legislation passed and people wanting to boycott AV because of it. The organizers made the point that many of them didn't support the legislation and a boycott would do more to hurt the event than the governor.

We wound up having the option of joining the Pride parade as a bit of nose-thumbing. Not everyone came of course. I did, and it was one of the best parts of the event!

I was there I rode in the parade had a great time. Two different things. One is judgement and it is not my place to judge what people do with their lives. My issue is with safety and I would not feel safe with the way the enviorment in Minnesota is now. I hope you have fun and have a safe trip.

Already registered! But looking for some input:
I live in Southern California and there's really no way I can scoot there. Wondering if it would be better to find a way to haul it (I can't haul it myself) or rent something when I get there? Admittedly, I'd rather have my baby, but pondering the feasibility. Any of you had experience?

Your options for renting are going to be limited. As far as I know there are no scooter rental businesses in the area. There may eventually be something on https://www.riders-share.com but I don't see any scooters there today.

Best bet may be to ask around your local scooter clubs and see if someone has space on a trailer.

Thanks for the heads up about scooter rentals. I signed up to rent a GTS, and if my offer is accepted, that will save me from 2 days of trailering each way.

I'm going to be there! Won't have my scooter, but I'm looking forward to all the other festivities! My first really big event.

Another great Amerivespa is over. IMO very well done, and the passion of Twin Cities Scooter Collective was apparent. Minneapolis/St. Paul is a great area. Although the plethora of lakes and rivers makes riding outside of the city very pleasing, I actually enjoy the city riding more...the bridges over the Mississippi are awesome, and exploring the diverse neighborhoods on two wheels is fascinating.

oakwoodjoe took a few of us on an evening ride to see the downtown lights last night, and it was well worth staying up late to ride more after a full day. Riding in the dark was a bit challenging and at times a bit harrowing, but fortunately gitder's other half rode cupcake and got some great photos. Have to see if I can get them on here...unless gitder beats me.

Ditto! Not many Italian scoots in these parts since we are a dealer desert. But thanks to the fine folks on this forum, learned to maintain the scoot myself.

Understood....even having a shop a couple hours away is good incentive to play mechanic....and this forum has been amazing over the years.
