I noticed only a few older GTS300 have the chassis without the slots in the right rear panel and a different tie in the front with a built in parking light. I have one from 2013, originally sold in Germany and exported to my country (the Netherlands).

Anyone have an idea how come?

Hello. The 250 and 300 have the same chassis, so it is impossible to tell externally which is which. Side cowling grills can be found on both models. When the 300 was introduced, Vespa discontinued the front parking light found on the 250, but retained the same style 'tie' for the more powerful 300 version, replacing it with just a plastic grill where the light once was.

The 300 wiring loom still retained the electrical connections for the parking light, so it is possible to buy the 250 parking light and retro fit it into the 300 as a styling choice.

All this of course changed with the introduction of the ABS upgraded version of the GTS 300 during 2014.

I can see your 300 has had a few cosmetic upgrades like the wheels, radiator grills and exhaust, so I'm guessing the previous owner also added the 250 parking light.

I hope this helps.

You have a very nice looking scooter btw.

Thank you for your explanation and the compliment.

I purchased my GTS almost a year ago. I did the wheels, the grilles and the exhaust myself. I get the strong impression the front tie with parking light is stock on my scooter.

I just wondered because you don't see many 300's like this, even before 2013. It's just as if Vespa used the older frames on a small series of 300's to clear some old stock.
