Modern Vespa

Howdy all,

Just broke down in Wichita Falls on my GTS. Anyone nearby that can help get this Vespa

A) off I-44
B) back toward Dallas?

Just spent 20 minutes on the phone with my Vespa shop back home and we troubleshot several things—likely fuel injector. Was driving 70 mph and lost power and now won't start. Plenty of fuel, good battery, spark plug connected good. Will turn over when attempting to start, but won't fire up.

Anyone live nearby?

Good news, a guy just pulled over and said he lives not far away. He's going to get a trailer and will at least get me to somewhere safe near the city more. One step down, a bunch left to go.

FWIW, State Farm has good roadside coverage. When I got a flat, they reimbursed me for the tow ($100?) and paid the labor to have the new tire installed. (I had to buy the tire.)

You'd still need to find somebody to tow you, but it's nice to know it's not an out-of-pocket thing. At least in San Francisco, there are a bunch of motorcycle towing people - basically guys who have a truck with a winch. Sounds like you're sorted for that with this good samaritan.

I must admit, I'm surprised to see a Vespa on a 75+ MPH interstate.

I've certainly taken mine up that fast plenty of times - I live in a city surrounded by bridges - but it doesn't seem like a pleasant environment for a leisurely ride, especially somewhere like Texas that can be summertime hot all year round.

Made it to a Flying J. My wife is en route with Vespa carrier. Whew—what an adventure.

Vespa is home and tucked in the garage. Now to shower, sleep, and pamper my wife. I owe her big time.
