Hello all. I purchased a new VBC muffler from Italy, but it does not fit.

Is the old one incorrect, or is there a different part number that is correct.

Those exhausts are for early Supers. 78 supers are 3 ports and require some massaging or a p type of exhaust. May need a longer bolt with a nut.

Throw up a pick of the swingarm where the exhaust screws in.

Supers were originally 8 inch bike so the swingarm bracket for a Super pipe is in a different position. A stock Sprint pipe is usually used if the Super has been converted to 10 inch tires and that rusty pipe is Sprint.

Mystery solved...I think....

The new one did indeed fit after I moved the stand spring to the outboard slot and aligned the muffler properly.

It is on, but the clearance between the tire and the muffler is a little tight. Will it rub when I hit bumps, or did they design it "just right"?

The wheel and the muffler move concurrently with the motor/swing arm unit and the tire should remain in the same position relative to the muffler.
