Hello! I have just purchased a rpm counter in order to adjust my idle settings.
I feel like the Vespa wants to push a littlw while waiting on the traffic lights.

What I found is that thw only setting that works for me is the 2P1R despite it is not for a 4T 1 cylinder
The rest swttings show figures over 5000rpm

What would be the right RPM? Isn't it between 1600/1700 ?

Engine idle speed 1,750 ± 50 rpm
Is this the one you have to wrap wire around the spark plug lead so many times ?

I have the exact same device - a tachometer - on my 460cc MASTER engine and remember having to cycle through those settings to find the one that was reasonable. Those different settings exist because of the various ways of providing spark to the cylinder - Google "wasted spark ignition" for an example. (I don't remember, and maybe never knew, if the Vespa system is a "wasted spark.")

I don't particularly like the device. While it does give a reasonable readout at idle, and at sustained engine speeds, the display is heavily damped, meaning it takes a long time to respond to changes. It's not particularly useful for matching RPM to speed while accelerating.

Think I had to mess about with how many times to wrap it around !
It did work ok after that .
