My scoot was sitting on the stand idling away happily for 5mins or so (stable rpms) and then it stalled. I looked at the dash and the engine stop/kill light was on. I stared at it and it went off.
note: This stalling issue has being going for a few weeks, I thought it was related to a recent thread by me ("saw tooth idle") but I think this is not so hence a new thread.
What can cause the engine stop/kill light on dashboard?
Obviously the kill switch on the dash, the switch on the side stand and the tilt sensor. Well it ain't the kill switch as I had a few days earlier disconnected and bridged it. I've just tried doing this with the side stand as well and still get an occasional stall. Want to do the tilt sensor but it's a bastard to get to.
Also turning on the ignition when the immobiliser is not working causes this light AND the it's own red light (which was not on in this case). Also this can't be it as my experimenting (wrapping the key in foil) tells me that the immobiliser is only checked at key on, not while the engine is running.
Or a fault in the wiring. pray not as it's be hard to find.
Or maybe the ECU can turn it on when it detects some other issue? Hmm ... I haven't been getting other engine codes while hunting this (just the lambda which is currently disconnected) so doubt it's the ECU doing it.
