I have a 2008 GTS250ie and seem to have too much throttle free play. I know there is an adjuster at the motor, under the per carrier, but is there also a cable adjuster a the throttle underneath the plastic covers?

Thanks, looks like the only cable adjuster is at the throttle body under the seat.

Steve, that video relates to the GTS 300 which has a double throttle return cable.

Between 2007 and 2009 the GTS 250 was modified from a single throttle cable to a double one like on the 300.

Check if your model has the single or double cable, if it has the single cable, you need to take the headset off and you'll see there is a rubber cover on the cable that you can pull back to loosen the lock-nut and adjust the play.

Mitch Bergsma did a good video showing adjusting the GTV throttle cable, which has the same arrangement as the earlier 250's. The video can be found in the MV wiki section...

I've owned some 33 motorcycles over the years and adjusting the throttle free play was super easy as all the cables are exposed at the right grip. My GTS250ie has all that fragile plastic on the bars and I was hoping to avoid disturbing that and possibly causing damage to clips or stripping out the plastic if possible.

I will check under my per carrier to see if I have a single or double throttle cable first.

Thanks

Checked the scooter this morning to find I have a single throttle cable, so there must be an adjuster near the grip. Off came the fly screen, the mirrors and the headlight housing and sure enough there was the adjuster. A few quick turns had the throttle free play to where I like and buttoned her back up. Time for a quick ride to make sure I got the mirrors back into the right position and all should be good. Thanks everyone.

I'm glad we were able to help. I hope you managed not to damage any of the fragile tabs that hold the headset in place.

I managed to keep all the plastic bits intact, thanks.
