I saw a thread suggesting a 160/60 r14 is the largest rear tyre that will fit and have just ordered a Heidenau K66 (sorry not a Diablo) when I spotted a nail in my rear tyre for plenty of wet/winter grip (yes I know it's spring).

Has anyone put bigger tyres on the front? I have 110/70 r13 city grip which feel good but am thinking of getting 130/60r13 Heidenau K66 which have same diameter and only 10mm wider than original 120/70r12 wheels.

I am wondering if that will
A) give me oodles of front end grip on loose/muddy/snowy/wet surfaces or
b) just be unnecessary, too lumbering and bloody horrible.

Thoughts or better yet experience?

I remember reading somewhere on this forum that this Heidenau brand is a really bad match for the MP3 in terms of handling and safety.

I saw someone said something like that and I think someone else said it was fine. I drove into a relatively dry relatively short grass field and almost had to push the bike out and kept nearly losing the back end so I thought I'd try something that might have a bit more bite if it ever wanders off tarmac than city grip.

I may hate it but will update.

Well i went up from 12" front wheels with the standard city grip 120 wide tyre to the 13"front wheels with standard 110 city grip and all i can say it improved the handling and considering overall tyre height is only about 1/2" higher and 10mm narrower i was suprised at the difference. The only way your going to find out if a 130 wide tyre is going to help is fit them ,i would go for it but as different make tyres can give different results it may be a expensive experiment.
