Developed an issue on pk , drive a couple of miles , stop. Go to start and it won't. Petrol level just starting to drop to flash Amber low fuel light. Checked plug, all good not wet and chocolate brown. Fuel tap turned off off. Pump kickstart with plug out. Put back in and no joy. Wait five mins , put fuel on then run alongside scooter doing the 1st gear jump start , springs back to life, full compression and speed. I'm thinking a few things , fuel tap needs change to fast flow, carb clean although recently done, check replace fuel line, top up fuel with E5 high octane to rule out ethanol e10 issue. It will run on both but currently have e10 and low tank, could it be vapour lock issue or gravity feed issue? I had similar on px180 and changed to sip fast flow 2 tap and ironed it out. Scooter had all new stator last year. Anything else to check ? Thanks .

You shouldnt need a fast flow tap, its probably the same tap on the 50/75/125 and you are unlikely to be using more fuel than a 125.

Have you tried taking the petrol cap off, it could be a semi blocked breather.

Does it do the same with a full tank of fuel?

First thing i did was take the filler cap off, no joy. I need to do some more tests.

Im going to fill to top with E5 high octane.

Im going to leave the fuel tap on once i stop after running for a few miles, this morning i had turned tap off. Its when i turned tap back on i couldnt start, it has done same thing before, once the scooter is hot.

The XL 75 is pretty juicy, has the ETS 20mm carb and more than likely the way i drive her.

Took the 75 back home then dug out the PX180 which i havent used in quite a while. Really felt weird driving such a lumbering lump and the stability difference between a small frame and a PX is huge, the PX still feels like you are driving a three wheeled shopping trolley. The smallies you can throw round corners and are just so much more fun.

Ran the tank really low and sucked all of the crud on the bottom? Clogged fuel filter and or jets?

It's not that low, it's just winking the amber light so a litre or more left. It only holds 5 litres max . If it was cruddy it wouldn't run smooth , it flies running. It starts from cold fine but as soon as hot and I turn fuel tap off it struggles starting when tap goes back on. I'm thinking it's along the lines of my px that could do similar until I changed the fuel tap and line. It's due a new tap as it's getting stiff and this might be from ethanol . I will stick a better tap on as they're cheap as I'm thinking it's a gravity issue. It starts cold on three kicks .
