Hey thanks for the reply.
Its Suchart Vespa, he has been there for years, am sure you know it if you have been up there. I was originally after a veloce 150, am 90kg so need the extra guts. the price of some of these with green books its absolutely crazy, 300k+! Am currently out of the country so spoke to him via proxy so wasn't the easiest conversations! Plus my Thai isn't up to par...
But failing another other info on the bike then yea for sure always up for recommendations.
Yes, I know Suchart in Chiang Mai. I bought the GS160 I now have from them many years ago. It was in rough shape but they were pretty clear with what problems it had. It has a green book, so it was expensive. That was 15 years ago. It's now worth about three times what I bought it for after restoring it with many original parts. The prices have gone up dramatically. The shops here set a price and will refuse to negotiate because they know the following year the value will just increase. Their attitude is, "This is my price now. If you don't want it. Never mind. Move on."
I think you will be ok by them, but any BACO is bound to either have on-going niggling issues or will develop them. The engines and electrics just aren't of the same quality as the Vespa quality. I guess you want to buy here because you plan to return to Thailand. If you want to have Suchart ship a bike to you in your country, I'd not do that, but buy locally where you are.
For anyone wondering, the green book is essentially a registration book, or official title of ownership. Each time it's sold, a date stamp and new owner's name is put into the book. It looks just like a bank passbook. Having it pretty much triples the value of the bike.
