I come to the collective with many boxes of loose and unknown gears. years of detritus, really.

is there a gear data base out there or am I destined to search each and every one?

there is new, not a problem. there is old, fine it's labeled, and there is... unknown.

thoughts, ideas, inklings, links, suggestions. all appreciated.

I haven't got a fu*king clue about your gears - but I wanna recognize the push of simplifying/liquidating/organizing/and otherwise just plane tidying up a man is doing at house of Kajit.

Yeah, I'm in process of getting a queen size blanket made from 42 T-shirts from various motorcycle trips and charity rides. Tired of looking at tote full of shirts. Sad part it it's blanket #3, I'm a sucker for fundraisers.

Here I am thinking he meant he wanted a web database to store all the spare "gear" he's got for random scooters, and I'm like "hell yeah that would be cool to be able to search used parts and find who has them lying around their garage to see how much they want for stuff someone needs!".

dude, I've been carrying too much for too long and I'm at the point now of:
1- I no longer own a shop shop so nobody is coming in asking for that and I can't monetize it.
2- I either don't or won't ever need this shit
3- it's shit
4- I'm sick of looking at it and/or moving it
5- a friend of mine died and left a shop full of bullshit and I don't wish that on anybody.
6- I can turn this BS into cash and fix my own bikes AND get rid of it.

and that's not just the gears. it's literally everything. I mean, who needs 3 (!!) 2 port Bajaj motors. not I, said the fly. don't get me started on the clutches... jeebus.

I should just have a kajiit house of wares yard sale. will take bad vodka, cider or carnitas tacos in trade.

so I bought a head off Marc a few years back, and when I opened the box it was full of ALL levels of nonsense and I just laughed and laughed. I was like, yooouuuuu fucker. cuz I know that he knew I already had all that rally and shop schwags from years and years. but it made me smile none the less.

but it's also why I always kick some nonsense in when I sell something off. my friend from New Orleans calls it: here's your a little sumpthin' extra.

*cuts eyes*

down there

what's it say?

"shorty"

hmmm.

yeah but when he gets goin' it says "shorty's lube and tune service: Indianapolis, Indiana"

but I digress. figure if I can get the gatitos to walk with their tails up it'll be like a ring toss and I can get them to truck the gears over to a central location and that would be probably near the treats.

ya know what... that's not a bad idea. if we could get something going that's open source and easily updated/modified/edited and simple UI... that would be pretty kickass.

heist team, assemble. one last job...

In all seriousness I know you want to assemble as many usable while sets out of the pile and chuck a smaller pile of leftovers in the bin, most likely. If it's not worth it a job lot sale if the whole shebang to a motivated person might be the ticket.

It's crazy how easy it is to "accumulate" stuff. My father in law recently passed and I did a quick perusal through his woodshop. I counted seven routers! SEVEN! And that's just the loose ones, not the ones in cases or tables, etc...

I'm itchin to go through my garage again and play the ole "when in doubt, toss it out" game...

no lies friend. I broke down and threw out a few china bikes (thanks blue bins!) as well as like, three ET4's and LX and a GTS over the last few months. I salvaged what I could, sold off what I could but all the rest went bye-bye.

my brother is a master carpenter, so I understand the whole "this is 12 linear feet birds eye maple and this is a mahogany door" kinda thing. then he comes to my side of the shop and is all WTF is all this crap!?! well... that's an OG rally seat frame, and that's a set of T5 cases, and... then his eyes glaze over. whatever bro, the weed whip doesn't work. fix it.

but yeah man, you get to the point of F this noise. lighten the load.

when you find yourself near Warner bros or up past the Costco on Sepulveda blow me up. I'm a way-station for thirsty scooterists. I'll check my 2T and plug stash but should have you covered if need be.

Various parts seem to sell pretty quickly on FB marketplace. There are a few vintage scoot for-sale groups there maybe worth checking out.

No need to set up a website, just post your gems and take Venmo, Zelle, etc.

Got a moped carb a few weeks ago. The slick dude shipped it in a PriorityMail box with all the packing being 2 or 3 cut-up priority mail boxes Clap emoticon
