Hi all,

I've had alot of Vespa but never a moped until now. The petcock is leaking, and the carb has a crack in it. I am looking at some inexpensive options that will get it running asap. I just renewed my Prime so I am looking on amazon. Thanks in advance.

It's just a little 72' Vespa Ciao, "SP "Special" all stock, been sitting for a while but clean.

Will these fit, if not, could some rad human recommend another option thats affordable?

Carb options:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08N9WYS1V/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?smid=A21PS5F1931Q39&psc=1

Petcock option: The easier and least expensive option is best, Im broke

I don't think Amazon is that savvy... with tech specs.
these carbs show measurements and such, I'd assume one would swap out fairly easy. But not sure.

Problem with Ciao/Bravo/Grande carbs is the tight space they must fit into between the back of the fan shroud and still fit on the intake spigot. Most other carbs, besides the dellorto SHA will not fit. The pics of the two from Amazon look like they will not fit into that space.

Treatland has heaps of moped parts including the carbs and petcocks.

Sometimes, proper utility outweighs affordability.

Thanks guys, I'll check out the link, Ive heard of that site, seems to have good parts.
I did find an accurate Dellorto "style" carb for a ciao on Amazon for $20, I'll see if it's any good when it arrives.

Issues when converting to a different carburetor that I've encountered. Wrong jets for everything from idle to main. Throttle cable end at carburetor not the same. Air filter connection different size, engine side spigot wrong size for rubber boot. Fuel line connection for hose wrong size. Carburetor to tall, to wide to thick etc. Check the specifications closely if your going for inexpensive it could cost a lot trying to track down parts for a non standard fit.

How about a few pictures of carburetor and its crack.

Go on to eBay Spain and check on there. Used to be awash with these peds in the 80s and you might find the parts you are after. For example https://www.ebay.es/itm/275084097026

Yes you will pay delivery and possibly import tax but cheap as chips.

JB Weld the crack in the carb and use a lawnmower fuel valve inline with the petcock.

Then buy the correct parts when funds allow!

NICE. That's not a bad idea for now. I'll take a couple pics today of the carb. I was thinking about using a shut off valve from the hardware store instead, it won't have the little filter thing but that should be ok for a bit? I'll try to fix what I already have since it's correct.

Buy a genuine Dellorto replacement for the SHA, and a new OMG petcock. You'll spend less than $100 and will avoid the poor manufacturing on clones.

I have 7 or 8 Vespa mopeds, including 4 Ciao.
