I misread the parts diagrams, and so bought the wrong replacement hose. There isn't a diagram that shows directly what coolant hose goes into the bottom tube of the water pump cover. So, I've highlighted the parts. The bottom tube is on the engine-cooler-pump diagram.

Do people agree with my new conclusion that it is part 17 in the frame-parts-cooling-system diagram that connects to that bottom water pump tube?

What is that doohickey I've colored blue?

And, if the end of the hose marked by clamp 38 clamps onto the water pump, where does the end of the hose marked by clamp 36 go?

Should have asked for the MV advice before I ordered!

Until I get the right hose in my hand, does anybody have successful experience using radiator tape to temporarily fix a split in a hose?

Thanks MVers!
water pump diagram - logically located in the engine group of the parts catalog. I bought both 4 and 5 thinking I had my bases covered.

more coolant hoses - less helpfully located in the Frame-PlasticParts-Coachworks group of the parts catalog.

when ordering why not just call the dealer and tell them which hose you want they can then send you the correct one.

tape is a VERY emergency bandaid to get you home to then do a proper fix.

Rescue tape, aka self-amalgamating tape, can cover the split. Make it at least four layers, wound tightly. Then add reinforcement - I wrapped a small length of beer can around the bandage and secured with four zip ties when I had a split some years ago. This worked for months until the next time the bike went in for some other work when it got replaced.

yes 17

the blue is a rubber grommet that holds the hose as it goes through a part of the frame

the other end of hose 17 joins a t piece at the bottom of the front. part 22.
