I got carried away drilling out the old cable end stuck in my choke tube and ended up twisting it off at the clip cut out😡😡😡🥵. Does any body have a donor body with the metal chock assembly intact? If I get one I can probably have a welder replace it with my damaged one. I don't want to mess around with epoxy or trying to have a new one fabricated. Any other ideas that I may not of thought of?? I knew the risk and just pushed it too far!

I've done the same mistake in the past, so I totally feel your pain. I ended up lucking out and rewelded mine back into place. It's been close to 20 years that it's been holding up. And yeah, ideally you could just weld a replacement tube back in there. The bad part is that your paint will burn. Another option is to use an aftermarket choke cable. Just google search aftermarket choke cable. I recently bought a Stage6 universal choke cable for a Vespa project. I have no idea if it will for for my application or not (24/24 carb, 200cc engine), but I'm planning on proceeding to use it. I have no idea if I'll even be using it in the stock choke location either. I might relocate the pull knob to a different area on the scooter. We shall see.

Thanks, I will check Stage 6 out. I have posted another inquiry in the for sale/wanted section. Shall see if I get lucky finding somebody with a donor body with a decent choke assembly that I can Frankenstein onto my P200e. The paint on my scooter isn't a real concern. I could try a metal epoxy as well. Lesson learned on my part😡 Thanks for the reply👍

I was saved from that problem when I watched Robot's P200 resto videos on YouTube all the way through. I tried driving out the old stuck ferrule from the front with a punch but no luck. Removed the ferrule from the new cable. Trimmed the sheath back and it slipped right in.

Yeah, I was aware of Robot's video, and went ahead and disregarded his warnings that the tube is very vulnerable to breaking off at the notched area😡 I was so close to having it reamed out completely when the "Oh Shit" happened. A dose of stubbornness and ADHD won the day this time. Luckily I live in Arizona… the warm weather really doesn't require the use of the choke to get this puppy started👍 I'm banking on somebody having a p200e cadaver lying around with the assembly intact. I might even try doing some minor reconstructive surgery and use some epoxy to hold the unit intact.

Thanks for the response👍

p125, p150 and stella donors also. You'll find one. I see some rusty ones for sale all the time. If you can get one with a crap frame but a decent engine you might get a deal! an engine for a few hundred and a donor choke tube for free!
