There still is UK and Europe but clearly sought after looking at sold prices.

Here's a great article from the uk scootering magazine about the 80s look
https://www.scootering.com/scootering-classics-nostalgia/
This went for £110 NOS.

Now you got me curious... Utah??? But it turns out to have been an Italian company and that's why mostly found only in Europe.

Utah

This looks something like the plastic shiftbox guard that came on some LML motors. But who copied who?

LML

BTW, I have a nice NOS in the box Utah 'Fox' set like this for a PK. I put a set on My PK. If anybody is feeling nostalgic but wants to avoid pastel or white, hit me up, . Cheeeeep!

When I first got mine, I found out they were supposed to have it.. So I bought one. Learned quickly why no one uses them.. all they do is catch all the oil dripping off your engine and make things even messier. It's sitting in the floor in corner of my garage for years!

Yeah, UTAH made a ton of Moped parts/accessories, which is where I know them from. Specifically, Vespa/piaggio mopeds.

Engine cover was maybe a T5 or UTAH first, definitely not LML. Here's some 80s - 90s goodies I have gathered so far...

Safis ,have you tried driving your scoot with them wheel discs on? It's like having your car wheels balanced with the weights put on the side, I remember something similar to these in the 80s that I put on and the oscillation they caused in handlebars is considerable at speed as balance all out . Still drove it though and just wore gloves to deaden vibration pain as in my world they were cool!

Those Utah hand guards aren't really that functional...at least the left side isn't. The problem is that the hand guard rotates with the shifter handle. So if you're riding along a 60mph in neutral then the left side guard will block the wind. But if you're riding along at 60mph in 4th gear, the hand guard will be rotated way down and won't block any wind from your hand. BUT, if you installed a sequential shifter, then I suppose the hand guards would work as intended.

I'm a fan of the Fox/Utah cowl and mudguard trims. Voodoo-they look great on your PK. I'd rock a set on a P / PK. The driver screen has a certain nostalgic flair that looks speedy. The wheel disks are cool too.

All the rest is .... interesting. Just too much plastic, which makes sense for the era; but not so much so in modern times. That being said, If one of these overloaded camply scoots came across my doorstep; I'd add it to the collection for historical purposes.

Good to know! $250 Sequential shifter purchase just to make a $20 piece of plastic work right!

Granted, I'm only interested in them superficially to fit my theme... not for any functional reasons.

EDIT: jackpot!

Just PM me your shipping address. You got endless shelves full of Vespa junk, some possibly even useable... I'd far rather have you owing me BIGTIME, than just get a tiny pile of cash that is soon gone. Eyelashes emoticon

Ahh...the days when half the local news was actually product placements by some Public Relations firm. My wife did agency PR like that for the first phase of her career. We used to watch the news just to count the number of PR placements.

Pitching stories like that was basically inside sales, but calling up reporters and asking them if they wanted to run a story rather than buy a product or service.

The film makers clearly had no idea of what a mod actually looked like in the UK as they were showing mainly leather clad greasers/rockers. What a pile of pony dung.

I noticed that too. I was a high school student at a boarding school in Toronto during the mid-late 80's mod revival. I had the mod parka, etc but wasn't part of the "scene". Most people in it were a little older than me and seemed to just sit around posing on their scooters.

Believe me when I say the older folk still do. Pete Townsend of the who sung on my generation , "I hope I die before I get old" This song was a mod anthem in the early 60's ; but there are many 80s mods in their 60's and original mods still pushing 80 years old who show up at events. Especially the goodwood revival in West Sussex UK. Fair play to them . Once scooters are in your blood and you were into them when young you will always be into them. I'm into my 41 years of having and driving them , will always have them . There's a bit of mod in all scooterists in the uk; we all started that way in some form .
