Sharing my 1987 Motovespa do Brasil PX200 elestart. Hoping to see if anyone else here in USA has one. Post your odd ball P series assembled outside of Italy (T5, TX GS200 included) PGO, Paijifa too. No Stella/Bajaj.

Quick history on the Brasilian PX. Motovespa produced the PX in different trim levels (PX200E (chassis VSX1T) , PX200S (Chassis VSS1T), PX200GT (Chassis VST1T) and PX200 elestart (Chassis VXX1T)) from 1985-1990. They where assembled from painted frames and assembled motors from Pontedera, Italy where final assembly took place in Manaus Brazil at the VEMOT factory with the exception of some locally sourced parts. These parts included Arteb/Hella Headlight, Bosch CDI, Locally made seats and a few other pieces. I believe this was to reduce tariffs to keep the price affordable to locals. The Brazilian government mandated 15% of the vehicle needed to be Brazilian made. They produced 45,000 Motovespa PX200.

It did not look like this when I got it. Had some heavy miles under its belt. I've made a few upgrades etc. Which are temporary. I'll be making some bigger updates over the winter.

The story behind how mine made it here in my hands is cool. Another story.....

Here's my "Made in Thailand" PX150E. It was, in fact, only assembled in Thailand after being parts shipped over from the Piaggio factory in the mid 80s. It's not in the US though as the thread requires. It's still here. The nicest thing about it is the old guy (first owner) who I bought it from never painted it, so it's still original paint (except for the horn cast).

I have P envy.

Cool stuff

What is the rarest stuff built under license. I mean general production numbers… not model specific ?

South Korean stuff?

Here you go. Here is a quirk. The frames came from the factory in Italy with this tab welded onto frame for wiring the license tag to the plate. The wire tag is installed by DMV and can only be removed by them. If you move to another municipality they change the other tag riveted to the pate.

For a very brief time a Factory called Mashin (sp?) produced a P variant under license from Piaggio.

That's such a neat instrument panel and a battery gauge too! Nice touch.

Nope. But Speedy is a NZ VBC.
Here are a lot of 1984 50S, same as Japanese model, but not entirely sure if they were made there. Never a PX that I know of, as import duties/restrictions were relaxed by time PX arrived.
NZ also made NZ-eta (same as CZ-etc, but made in NZ.), & I'm guessing Puch SR/SRA150, as they were common, they also could have done Mitsi Silver Pigeon & Zundapp Bella, but not 100% sure.

No, the P150S with the newer speedo where different. Havent been able to nail down what variants of the Indonesian P150 came with which headset. Some had a square locally made headset. Some had the one like Brazilian (which from my research is what the P series was supposed to come with originally). The early P150s had PE speedo. Some P150S had a locally produced square headset.

Do you know much about available colors for Airco Vespa's? I've got something in the works, but its hard to find definitive info. Some have told me that Airco offered numerous non-standard colors, and/or they used whatever they had on hand at the time. The non standard colors interest me very much

WHITE - a classic! Every seen a original paint in Yellow or other colors? Is it true that Airco did homeware applicance, or something like that? I heard that they would use any colors they had available, or a custom color if customer requested?

Fridges and the like... hence why the official colour is "Appliance White".

As mentioned above, Mashin assembled P125X models in South Korea from roughly '81 to '83. They were high priced compared to local product and not successful; the company went bankrupt. There are still a few floating around, my buddy seeks them out and has 3 or 4. They are basically a P125X w/no oil pump, a Mashin badge, and for some reason a different glove box lock.

"Coops" on here has an Indo P150S Strada, which has that style speedo. Your pic of the red one shows what I was describing about the crazed speedo.

Here's a post on it...
Lets talk about P150S! (Page 2)
I got one from Indo to replace someone's a few years back.

I got this about 6 years ago. Was running when I got it but I don't think anything has been done to the engine. I'm sending it out next year for a rebuild. The tape on it is because the headset rattles and it bothered me. I'm in a scooter club called the shitbox scooter club. It's perfect.

I got this about 6 years ago. Was running when I got it but I don't think anything has been done to the engine. I'm sending it out next year for a rebuild. The tape on it is because the headset rattles and it bothered me. I'm in a scooter club called the shitbox scooter club. It's perfect.
yo, you got a lift an a little bit of room. with some basic tools and a marginal investment of speciality tools (or beg, borrowing or wheeling and dealing) you can totally rebuild this yourself for literally the price of a night out for nice sushi.

learn along the way, upgrade if need be.

this isn't some precious model so have at it, hombre!

again! rob dropping the info on us.

hey man, I know you got a grip of irons in the fire and probably have that "scooter fatigue" but the amount of granular knowledge that you drop on us time and time again is just so, so welcomed.

I mean, we'd figure it out at some point. probably. but the fact that you already have the answer or a direct line to were somebody needs to look for what they're doing is very welcomed and I want to say invaluable.

thank you for that, and please don't be a stranger. swing by and tell us what time it is when ever you're feeling it man. it's really a breath of fresh air.
