The more I read these posts, the more I consider adding a side stand. They are not very expensive and look fairly easy to add on. I keep my Vespa in my garage and if it is leaning over on a side stand I could not also get my car in as the garage is tight and with it on the center stand I can just fit both cars in, leaning over on a side stand would not work, but when out and about it might be helpful. I often like to add something to my Vespa every year, my last two additions were rear crash bars and Chubby Buttons to control my music. The issue with the rear crash bars is that they do make it more difficult to get to the center stand as it is sort of under the crash bar and a bit hard to get your foot onto it. Something to consider.
I have always used mine on both scoots - if it's too windy, angled ground, or otherwise not solid, I use the center stand. I'd say I'm 90-95 % on the side stand, but it's the 5% using wisely that makes the difference IMHO
