Hi guys,
Having trouble with p200 motor in GL. Starts but won't idle or rev worth a hoot, then dies after about 30 seconds.
I've checked the plug, cleaned the carb, plenty of fuel, even pulled off the flywheel to check the woodruff key, it's there. It seems like the timing is totally whacked.
The motor was running okaybefore, but bogging off throttle. I swapped out the clutch for a Cosa and had one good ride before this latest problem started.
I have to also say that when I first rebuilt this motor, I accidentally dropped an idle screw spring into the intake and fudged up the rotary pad pretty badly. I did what I thought was a decent repair with JB weld but that repair may have failed and is causing current difficulties. (If I have too, I'll send the motor to Tennessee to have the rotary pad properly repaired)
Before I pull the motor I thought I might try swapping the ignition and stator from my T5 over to the GL, and also recheck the timing and see if that helps, neither scooter has a battery. Would that work?

I swapped the ignition coil from the T5 over to the GL and it ran and idled fine. So I guess I can order a new ignition coil now!

Look for one with an led that lights when a signal is present. Helps with troubleshooting a bit.

Not sure if I may have sensed a bit of sarcasm in that last post, but glad I seem to have isolated the problem.

No sarcasm, I have a CDI with an LED if coil isn't sending a signal no led. If it doesn't fire no led.
