Just had a great day out to Folkestone other half on her 2008 GT125S and me on the GTS300 Supetech (75th Anniversay). On the way back we popped into Camber for a coffee stop. Started the scooters for the return run and the problem started. The engine 300 totally cut out. Tried the key out and open seat and things to try to start but nothing. Left it ten minutes had another go of hitting fob buttons and closing seat and the starter would turn but the engine would not fire. It wa like an immobiliser activation but a half reset. I jumped on 125 to home and got my master key. Came back in the car to 300 with other half looking after goldie, luckily she love scooters so no guilt. Shoved the master key in instantly starts, but the engine warning light shows up and stayed on all the way home. Ran the scooter back home and set about getting insects off the scoots with the long awaited wash. Putting them away clean and dry for the day and think I will try the master Key again the 300 fires up and the engine warning light suddenly clears. The dealer is 100 miles round trip and so far with collecting new, then first service and another fault 300 miles of my 1046 miles are getting fixed warranty issues. I avoided an older scooter to ensure, great days did not become ruined by breakdowns. This is the second roadside breakdown luckily it was close to home and master key seems to have fixed the fault. However I do not want to have to carry a master key around with me. Looks inevitable that I will have to go to dealer to investigate, another day off another 100 miles round trip on the Vespa warranty… Has anyone else experienced this problem, it feels like flaky electronics that randomly start an action then hang in the process.

Double-check when you first switch on that you can hear the fuel pump prime for two seconds. There have already been a couple of reports of new 300's with faulty fuel pumps - reminiscent of the fuel pump recall way back when.

Thanks I will see what happens next time I fire her up. It sounds like a fuel pump issue as it cranked but seemed to lack fuel to fire until the master key reset the attitude. I am going to give the dealer a call and see what they want to do. I had thought about getting an ODBC reader and getting the fault code assuming that the clear has not wiped the fault.

Really helpful thank you so much. I have ordered the cable and reader then will see if the code pops up. Couldn't stand the thought of a missed weekend, hopefully they will arrive tomorrow.

Just to clarify, I don't work for them but I often feel like I'm paying their wages.

Just look for either bike and a bloke with a funny look in his eyes.

There is an error code P1101 $07e Meaning it did record which is good news now got to see what It means. I suspect it is the fuel pump as I could not here the pump when the problem happened. Looks like a call to Canterbury and see what they say. Not withstanding the weather a ride to Folkestone again with the master key and ODB2 reader if worst comes to worse clear the fault. Let's see if she behaves and will let me go to Big 7 at Hop Farm Paddock wood next weekend. We did Bikeshed Tobacco Dock yesterday, when will the busy weekends stop! Bill orange and gold scoots or my other bike Ducati Desert sled. We may pop in for coffee today think the deck may even be tourist free.

Yeah, it's raining out there now so I'm staying home. Already been to Camber, Rye Harbour and STOP24 this morning so the Moto Guzzi is staying in the garage.

Went for a ride today blissful 36c then out of nowhere the scoot died. Rang up Robinsons and there is a recall on the fuel pump. Left it for twenty minutes which was about as long as I could put up with no shade, and it fired up again. Looks like the Ducati is now back on duty for the summer can't get it fixed before end of August. Thank god it broke down now rather than in August when most commerce in Europe have factories close. Hopefully this is the last of the gremlins, as I have found myself picking it over the Ducati of late.

Do you, or does anyone else know, which model and year 300 HPE's were affected by the fuel pump recall? I have two 2021 300 Supers, and knock on wood, they still run fine.

Mine is a 2021 so I would probably just call your dealer and ask no cost warranty job rather than you having to foot the bill post warranty. Worth checking now I would say. Good luck!

I just got off the phone with my dealer and what they told me is, it's for certain scooters/fuel pumps built during a certain time (they didn't know they dates) but they can look it up by your vin. I just bought a 2022 and apparently mine is not part of it. I would just give your dealer a call and have them search your Vins.

Heard from my dealer (ScooterWest) yesterday that my 21 GTS is one of the "lucky" fuel pump recall units. With a longish ride planned tomorrow I asked how often they're seeing the stall/no start problem. He said they have sold 88 units which are subject to the recall and only one has reported an issue. I'm still going on my ride tomorrow and as soon as they get the part in - supposed to be 5 to 7 days - I'll get it fixed.

Good luck (and have fun!) on the ride. My bike was at the dealer for just a week, so the timeline your dealer gave should hold.
