Hello,

My name is Markus from Kempten , a small town in Germany and I am basically new here. I posted something 2017 and then Life happened .
I have owned scooters for about 30 years. I started with a Lambretta J50 in Verde Mela, which I would really like to have back now!

I'm not a very good mechanic, but I always keep my scooters running somehow. I've also tinkered together the odd bike for touring. That's why I tend to keep a low profile here with tips. There are clearly more competent contemporaries here! I'm more or less the noob here in the forum.

Since 2007 I've also been a Vespa traveller (54 countries/44 on Vespa).
2014 Around Europe on P200E (32 countries and 22450 km) plus Morocco.
2015 Crossed 10 countries and 1691 km in 24 hours on a Scomadi 125.
2015 Nice "Elefantentreffen" on Vespa ( must be repeated sometime ).
2015 Blechrollerbande Kempten founded, but I ride alone again.
2015 Tour through 7 countries and 6000 km on P200 ( World Days, Alp Days Croatia plus n event in central Spain )
2016 6 countries and 6500 km on Bajaj 177 and another autumn tour over the Stilfser Joch and around Lake Garda and back.
2017 Giro Germanica ride for children with cancer 8290 km and a donation of 25.000 € (Thanks to all from the forum who participated !!!!)
2017 Coast2Coast of the USA enjoyed 10,000 km 20 states in preparation for my circumnavigation.
2018 then biggest adventure of my life: 80 days round the world on Vespa Madrid to Madrid always eastwards from 30.06.2018-17.09.2019 (27.113 km in 17 countries on 3 continents) plus 1000 km on 50cc PK50 that came to me in Cartagena across the Iberian Peninsula to Faro Portugal where I lived in a van.
2020 Micro-adventure 3600 km on Ape50 from Portugal to Germany.
2021 Finally another charity ride: 6300 km Vespa Gentleman Giro (7 countries and more than 84.000 € donations) on 50cc !
Hope to be able to do Alaska to Argentina adding a complete loop of Australia one Day to complete the continents ( Antarctica does not really make sense ).

Some might think I am a nutter, but I just love travelling and adventures on the Vespa!
See you somewhere on the road! Maybe one day at Amerivespa or a Canonball Run !Roll safe

Well, at least you won't be alone here! Razz emoticon

Welcome back, Markus! Nice to have you here.

BTW, that Ape tour sounds epic...is it documented anywhere?

Hope to bump into you somewhere!

Welcome!

I got a kick out of making a scooted map using NUTS-2 regions in Europe and counties in the US. I'm happy to look for the SVGs if you'd like to make one, but you're so well traveled that you might prefer a coarser level of granularity.

[edit] Apparently I included a link to the SVG in the original post.

Welcome!

Fancy taking me with you on your next trip? I could do with a loooong holiday.🛵

PS - have you been up Col De La Bonnette? Well worth the ascent (did it on a bicycle, though I expect far more enjoyable on a Vespa). 😎

Have not been there yet, but would be a nice trip to do all the 20 highest passes in the alps in one tour... have done half or so
