I am wondering if anyone has any experience putting saddle bags on a vespa? Particularly Kriega duo 28? I can prob just drape them over the seat but i dont want to scratch the paint. Im looking to see if anyone has a done this and if they have a work around?

I've had textile saddlebags on a GTS.

The Kriegas look like they'd work, especially if you have the rear "crash bars" to anchor the bottoms to. That would also help your paint by minimizing the bags flapping in the wind & rubbing.

I didn't put the straps over the seat, though nothing stopping you. I went over the pet carrier and under the seat for quicker/easier fuel stops. Six, a half dozen, or the other.

I did have neoprene (or something) panels that the straps fed through and went between the bags and the bodywork. They came with the bags I had at the time...don't remember the brand. You could possibly source them as spare parts from the catalog at your local shop or Revzilla, Twisted Throttle, etc. It's basically just something that grips, isn't scratchy, and is weather-tolerant/resistant. (IE: don't use felt.)

Hope this is helpful.

If nothing else, you could get clear 3M adhesive sheeting, like they use for "framesaver decal" stuff, and put that as a clear barrier between the bags and bodywork.

I had these Nelson-Rigg panniers leftover from a motorcycle. They work thrown over the seat on my Liberty 150. The back strap goes behind the seat and holds them in place. There is an internal flexible panel that helps them hold their shape.

I only use them when I know I am going to need to haul a lot of stuff (like groceries). 27L each, but they hold about half again as much when un-rolled.

They have padding on the backside for going up against bodywork. I haven't noticed any scratches so far, but they won't show up as much on white as other colors.

My LXV150IE has that split seat and I have leather saddlebags I used on my Honda Rebel so I carefully drilled 2 holes through that plastic seat base, on each side to slip a quick link in. I can now tie down those leather saddle bags and use them. Yes, I do have to take them off every time to fill up with gas but I can pack more clothing for longer stays. And they are not as apt to cause me to have as much balance issues as stuff on the back rack. But I still had to be careful about weight and that front tire not having good contact with the road. Vespa is a great piece of equipment but it's front end light, and that's something that I am very aware of.

I have some throw overs on mine not strapped down no problems as my arse sits on them when riding. Not noticed scratches but don't really pay that much attention being a old ET4 of 97 vintage, but as others say use something to protect good paintwork.
