I have a 2022 Vespa Sprint 50, I just got a performance chip form amazon (Top Auto Accessory Performance Chip), it has instructions but I don't know where the IAT is located on the Vespa… can anyone help?

Thanks,

Pics of where I can find the sensor would be helpful.

ah, Intake Air Temp. Hmm, not so sure that the Sprint 50 has one.

A quick surf around for pics of the throttle body which is where I'd bet it would be located if it existed (like on a GTS ) appears two show two connectors: the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) and some other sensor that is on a valve (vacuum or something but not air temp)

I'm sorry to say but I suspect you'll be sending that back for a refund

Apart from making the scooter a little heavier, what is that magical blue box supposed to achieve?

my guess is that it is supposed to modifiy the air temp to convince the ecu that it's an increased density and hence more oxygen. similar idea to the lambda emulators from the likes of malossi

A bit of googling says it's a scam.

Makes the bike think it is a cold winter's morning so the ECU richens up the mixture a bit. Most stock bikes run lean.

Would do more on a multicylinder engine.

It purportedly adjusts the mixture and timing. It's a scam.

Email the seller, who says they programmed that specifically for your scooter model. They should know all about it.

See, if you had said "it is supposed to yield an extra 0.25-0.5 horsepower", I might have believed it. If Piaggio could squeeze out an extra 15% ( 1.9hp extra on a 12.5hp engine!) just by remapping, they would.

Not if it meant the motor wouldn't meet emission standards.

For anyone interested… I got a reply from the vendor with correct information, installed it in 5 minutes and it actually makes a difference on take off… has more "pep"!

I am glad it worked out for you. I just like to leave things alone unless I am messing with a 50cc two stroke.

Out of curiosity, why did you buy a 50cc scooter if you're interested in more power?
